I, for one, would really enjoy reading it. Also, each time a chapter was updated, a relevant item would be given out to all those who read that chapter.
I'm positive we can scrounge up the info needed to start the story-line novel thingy, and it would be great to have something to discuss about zantarni, besides glitches and the page layouts.
If this idea is considered, I would be glad to offer any time and support for the progress of the project. Just let me know when something like this would become part of the list of priorities of our queen. |
So far, I have gathered that there are people interested in persuing this idea, and those few are; Amurita, Sceadu Phoenix, and myself.

Update (Nov. 9, 06:13 p.m. GMT -06:00);
The team has worked hard on getting things ready. We have the initial story completed and are going to move forward with the second. We're still interested in filling the Historian position, so if anyone's willing please stop by. We're also looking forward to expanding our known map of Zantarni!
Update (Oct. 31, 07:45 p.m. GMT -06:00);
We have hired our Lead Illustrator, and I couldn't be more happy. Keres Corvax will be taking the lead with illustrations and design. I have taken the Lead spot for writing, while Amurita takes on the responsibility of writing and being a historian.
Update (Oct. 31, 02:45 p.m. GMT -06:00);
Zantarni Chronicles is being picked up once again, after a year long Hiatus. Expect real progress and to see the product of our efforts. The original post says and item should be given out per chapter, but that idea has been thrown out due to it's relativity to another web site. Instead, I'll be taking the project in another direction, and more is to come on that subject. Also, the hunt for an illustrator begins today.
Update (Oct. 28, 3:42 p.m. GMT -06:00);
EternalHearts has joined the crew. We're excited to have her. Progress has slowed due to the event, and that is a managable a issue. No worries, we are still moving forward.
Update (Oct. 19, 11:17 a.m. GMT -06:00);
The interviews for the historical project have begun. Soon, Amurita will have more time, and Sceado is already working on his part. Things seem to be coming along well.
Update (Oct. 18, 9:26 a.m. GMT -06:00);
We are working on making an intersting storyline for the users to follow, as well as compiling all we know about Zantarni's history. Two projects coming soon :]

The first chapter is being revised and edited by the Zantarni Chroniclers. Progress, here we come. ;]

I like this idea too, as I've always loved reading the stories on other Avi sites. I remember Blaze saying something before about having a contest for a staff writer or something, so I hope that if/when it happens it'll be for making a storyline.

Xarxes - I would LOVE to do something like this (and had intended to do so!) but just don't have the time -or "bandwidth"- to deal with it right now. If somebody wants to take the initiative, integrating the site's history, Site Characters, etc. in to a story line that we can use, I'd certainly consider it!
And yes, this is one of the things I had in mind when I mentioned the possible "writer" position, Amurita.

We would need as small team of writers, as one writer would not suffice. I think minds would need to work together to have the best result.
My time is in short supply, but I would love to help writing. Providing relief for my Queen in any way will be reason enough to mmake more time for zantarni if my services are employed.

I love that idea! In a way, Meldrick has set a good foothold for this already by telling his stories all the time. It makes the perfect space for something like this to be added. <3
The only thing I don't like, is this:

To that though, I am strongly turned against it because of GaiaOnline. It's one of the things they do (or used to do, I don't know if they still for or not) with almost every story line, the movie trailers and anything else they can think of. If it was a unique idea, it would be wonderful. Gaia ruined it for me though because it's such a horrible place now with worse people and even worse admin. :/ *wishes the REAL gaia was never sold and turned into the P.O.S. it is now*

Zaphkiel, I can totally understand your aversion to anything remotely Gaia. Alot of people don't like Gaia for various reasons but what Agent Xarxes has suggested is not a bad thing. It could potentially bring people back to Zantarni. I think the biggest difference is that it would be Zantarni related rather than advertising related which is where Gaia is.

I love the fact that there is some interest in pursuing this idea - there's certainly enough talent for it across the site!! The real question for this is organizing it.
Let's forget about the "items rewards" though: it adds a level of complexity that I'd rather not have.
This would add a lot to Zantarni and make its very rich history more available and known to the newer users who seem to be looking for it! Don't forget Zan Musings and the Zandex when you start looking for information: there's a lot of history and information captured there!

Well, Im going to get things started, but not necessarily take the lead (as I don't think anyone should actually lead this project). First, I will contact meldrick, and then search the site for lore and tales. After some research, I'll be able to throw some ideas around with other historians-to-be.
About the forementioned items, I think Blaze is justified in purging that idea. It makes for a complex edge that should be smoothed out before cutting our brains with adding another deminsion to the idea.

Alrighty, I'm pretty familiar with a lot of the site's lore myself, except for Meldrick's tales. I've only read the first few, so I just need to catch up on the rest.
I think that the first issue that needs to be addressed though is this one:

On the last post, Zenobia is really upset about Zantarni using the story she came up with. But that story is the basis of Zantarni's orbs and Yorick. So...that brings me to the question. Continue where she left off, or start a new?

I say continue on. Her story is the history of Zantarni. We can't deny it, nor can we rewrite history. :]
