Happy New Year Zantarni!
With the beginning of January, we start a brand new year and see some brand new DIs.
We have the Yorick set as a nod to our ending St. Yoricks celebrations, the Masquerade for celebrating the new year, and Lang Syne for the aftermath of the celebrations.
So what do you think of this month's items?
Is there something you particularly liked about them?
Is there something you think could be improved?
Any other thoughts?
---
Btw, I noticed that 'Lang Syne' is taken from the traditional New Years song 'Auld Lang Syne' and that this song's title can be literally translated as 'old long since', so I guess 'Lang syne' is translated as 'long since'...?
---
Looking forward to next month...
What kind of DI do you want/think the theme will be for February?

The eyes on the lang syne are hilarious
I think I like the Masquerade set the most though. It has a cool hat and very nice masks.
I kinda wished the eyes sort of faded into your skin instead of being so harsh around the edges. I had this and issue with the banshee eyes from October. _________________ New Leaf Dream Address: 4400-2199-2304

My favorite is the Yorick's items as I love them. . .
I like how the masquerade hat looks, but it sits way too high on the head. _________________

I agree that the masquerade hat sits way to high up on the head, like it is going to slide off your head.
I haven't had much time to fiddle around with them to see what I like and what I don't like. _________________ Court Jester? Bo?

I really love the Yorick and Masquerade sets. :3
The colors are lovely and I like the clothing that comes with them.
The Yorick Fan is also very nice. :3 _________________

I don't have the items yet, but after trying them on in the fitting room and also from first glance, I am surprised to say that the Masquerade set is my favourite. Usually if anything is gold and Yorick related I flock to that, but I like the Masquerade set more. The masks look cool (albeit quite mischievous and borderline evil, so I'm not sure how often I'll use them as I might scare myself ) and the hat is awesomely designed (though as others mentioned it is pretty high on the head). As for the rest of the items, I love how the swirl motif was included on them which make the items go together and at the same time give them an interesting texture on it's own. Plus the texture on the velvet pants is pretty cool and really makes it look like a different type of material. And the colour scheme is cool with the teal, purple, gold and white. Thus, it is my favourite set for this month.
As for the Yorick items, I really like the design of the mask. I also like the feather items and the lamp. I like the fan and the staff, but feel like they're both off a bit for me. Like the positioning of the feathers are off. I think for the fan I find the perpendicular feathers near the handle off. And for the staff, the positioning of the wings feel off. Also don't really like the triangular end of the hilt. As for the clothes, they have a sort of ceremonial robe feeling to them, but are not really my style. The Yorick set is my second favourate this month.
As for the Lang Syne, as Kio said, the eyes are pretty funny, as well as the exhilaration swirls. And now that it was mentioned it would be nice if it faded into the skin. I know it can be tricky with that because of all the different skin tones, and the eye area being pretty small to begin with. As for the rest of the set, it's all pretty fun, but I'm not sure how often I'd use the accessories so it's my third for this month.
With next month being Valentines/Eidyllion, I'm expecting something romantic. Flowery and dreamy.

I voted for Masquerade, which is my favourite set this month. The Velvet Hat is beautiful -- the plume on it is especially amazing, so delicate and feathery -- although I agree with those who have commented that the hat sits a little too high on the head, unfortunately. The Cuffs, Shoes and Masks are also beautifully designed and make lovely additions to my wardrobe. I love the texture of the Velvet Pants, but of course, as usual for me, I would prefer a skirt.
My favourite pieces of the Yoricks set are the Feathers (lovely new background), Light (so pretty!) and Shoes. The golden part of the items looks rather stiff, as if it is made from brocade, or some other non-flowing material; similarly, the feathers on the Mask, Fan and Staff look a little rigid… but perhaps this effect was intentional.
The Lang Syne set is a nice bit of fun for the post-New Year period, and my favourite piece is Lassitude (eyes). I may even wear this sometimes, if I'm feeling particularly jaded and/or weary.
As next month will be Eidyllion, I am hoping for some pretty items to complement that theme. _________________
