So, since BBC has been playing Star Trek - The Next Generation, I have gotten back into it again, only maybe a bit more obsessively now, lol... I call my tv "the machine that plays Star Trek" or other things like that because its basically the only thing thats on it lately...
Anyways, who else is a fan???
I've only seen a few episodes of the original series and a few of Deep Space Nine, and I have seen none of the movies so I don't have much knowledge about them, but if you wanna talk TNG, I'm all up for it...
If you are a fan, who is your favorite character and why???
Have a favorite episode???
If you were a member of Starfleet, what would you want your profession to be???
Those are just some starting points, feel free to discuss more... _________________

I love star trek! one of my favorite shows that i watched. come to think of it the only version i did not watch was the new one called enterprise
to be honest one of my favorite versions of star trek was the next generation and star trek voyager.
If you are a fan, who is your favorite character and why???
Deanna troy or that part the whoopie goldberg played ,, wish i could remember what they called her on the show. well anyways these two were my favorite. i loved how they could make thing better by simply talking and being there for the people with good advice
Have a favorite episode???
oh my gosh, we would be here forever if i listed all of my favorite episodes, but here are a few. I liked the one where data traveled through time and got stuck in the past.
there was also the one where deanna found out she had a sister and another where she had a baby.
I liked the one where the doctor was trapped in a space bubble and didn't know it
well the list just goes on and on.
If you were a member of Starfleet, what would you want your profession to be???
i would love to be working in the scientific plant department. I wold like to be able to work on plants for healing and other stuff i think. not sure what that would be when in comes to star trek.

Yay, I'm not the only Trekkie here...
Whoopi's character on The Next Generation was named Guinan, I love her...
And now, to answer my own questions -
If you are a fan, who is your favorite character and why???
Data... I'm biased toward robotic and android characters because I just love them, but Data is just great... He's hilarious at times and whats not to love about an incredibly intelligent, strong, and respectable android??? And to watch him grow as a human emotionally is great too, sometimes sad as hell, but good...
Have a favorite episode???
Oh lord, why did I make this question when I know I can't limit myself to just one???
I don't know the names of the episodes, but here are some of my favorite TNG moments -
-When Data has memories and dreams of his father, Noonian Soong, which was amazing because I got to see him for the first time, and because it was when Data became able to dream and started to tap into the programming he had not yet gained access to that his father created for him...
-When they meet a Borg with sentience and he befriends Geordi and gets the name "Hugh", and part of his sentience is passed on throughout the Borg...
-The episode where its like a day in the life of Data, where he tries to be human like and it shows how he fails a lot, often hilariously, like being excited to tell his friend, Miles O'Brien, that his wife is not showing up to their wedding, because he assumes that since Miles wants nothing more than her happiness, that he will be happy about her not showing up to the wedding...
-The episode where Data has a poker game on the holodeck with various geniuses and Stephen Hawking played himself in it...
-The one where the Cardassians take Picard hostage and torture him, it almost made me cry to watch it, but his strength in the end made it all worth it... Its the "There are four lights!!!" episode...
-The one with Picard's flute... It also makes me cry...
If you were a member of Starfleet, what would you want your profession to be???
I'd want to be something important, or just something where I could interact with Data...
Or being a holodeck programmer or working in Ten Forward, the Enterprise's bar, would also be pretty cool... _________________

Star Trek was one of my first favorite scifi shows to watch. Since I enjoyed the old series, I looked forward to the Next Generation episodes.
If you are a fan, who is your favorite character and why???
I think Data is probably my favorite character. His character was somewhat like Spock's but in the opposite way. Spock was always trying to be in control of his emotions, while Data was always seeking to be more human like his companions on the ship.
Have a favorite episode???
I have so many of them, but the one I like the most is the one where data creates another android which he considers to be his daughter.
My favorite scene in it was when she Grabbed Riker and kissed him. Data come in on it and ask him what his intentions were with his daughter. I thought that scene was hilarious.
If you were a member of Starfleet, what would you want your profession to be???
I would probably want to be working some where in the science department. It would be interesting to find and study different type of plants.

That was a great episode, the one with Data's daughter... Her name was Lal...
The look on Riker's face when Data tells him that Lal is his daughter was priceless...
It was sad in the end though... I don't know why but when something sad happens to Data, who isn't supposed to have emotions, it hits me harder...
But there is no doubt in my mind he has always had at least partial use of the emotional programming that Dr. Soong created for him... There are little instances, like on an episode I watched a few nights ago... Geordi's mother, the pilot of a ship called the Hera, goes missing along with her ship and is thought to be dead, but while in an avatar like program, way before avatar of course, Geordi sees her and she communicates with him, but it ends up physically harming him... He is told not to go back into the program though he really wants to see his mother again to try to save her... He sneaks off to put himself back in, and Data catches him... Since he is loyal to his duties as a starfleet officer, he warns him that he will detain him to his quarters if he proceeds, and Geordi argues with him for a moment about the importance of seeing his mom to save her, and then Data helps him go in... If he did not have emotions he would not have done that, he would have abided by the rules as he is programmed to do, but his care for Geordi made him act on emotions and not on the rules...
Thats just one example, another is when Lore gives Data some of the emotions created by their father which causes him to do bad stuff to Geordi, but in the end when the emotion chip is supposed to be destroyed, he tells Geordi that he is relieved that he was not seriously harmed by what he had done, and mentioned that he was someone he really cared about...
So relief and care for someone, those are other examples of when Data has shown emotion that he does not know he has...
I could go on and on and on and on with this... _________________

Star Trek! I have gained a nerd reputation among my friends for how much I love this show. Considering most of my friends work in a building with a focus on video games, that's saying a lot.
If you are a fan, who is your favorite character and why???
If we're talking TNG, I'd have to say Picard. He's had some interesting character arcs, and manages to stay strong through some tough ordeals.
My favorite Star Trek characters of all time are Khan and his wife, Marla. They only got one episode together, but they definitely left an impression on everyone they came into contact with. Khan is a great villain, and Marla has just enough of a moral code to keep him from killing people.
Have a favorite episode???
Space Seed, due to previous mention of favorite characters.
Chain of Command (2 parter), because THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS! _________________

I'm a Trekkie! The Original Series and Next Gen are my favorites. Those DVD sets are outrageously expensive though. I'm glad you can watch it all on Netflix! I love episodes that revolve around the Holodeck. That's my favorite Star Trek technology.

I also like the DS9 series and Voyager. . .but I am not too keen on the newest movies, though I know they are trying to go after a younger demographic, trying to make the story more interesting for those who have never seen the originals (much like what they are doing to Batman, Superman and all of the Marvel characters - sorry I prefer the originals) _________________

Yay, more Trekkies!!!
For those who mentioned the new movies, I haven't seen those yet because I haven't seen any of the movies and I want to start with the earlier ones...
I really need to download the original series soon so I can start watching the whole thing from the very beginning...
But I think The Next Generation will always be my absolute favorite since its what I got started on...
Starlight Orchid, I love the Holodeck too...
I wish I had one, that would be awesomeness, lol... _________________

Wouldn't that be awesome to have your own halodeck. I would be spending so much time there. just think of all the money i could save not having to travel on vacation.
In my opinion all the homes of the future should have this! if only this was real

I think the only problem with having my very own Holodeck is that I'd never want to leave it... _________________
