Sooo I have a sword equipped, but every time I battle, it says I'm bare-fisted. What am I missing here?

Even though your avi has a sword, it doesn't count as a weapon in the coliseum. Which, even for me says I am bare-fisted. You can gain power an strength by using the training gym and collecting tickets that pop up from time to time.

Does that mean I can't actually have a weapon?

Yeah, I have this same question.
I spent the last 2 weeks mining, refining materials at the forge, and making all the tools I needed at the weapon smith to finally make a sword. Went to my wardrobe, clicked on the "battle" button on the sword, and nothing happened! Is it because of my class? I have to guess that as a wizard I need to use a staff.

I made a tool and tried to equip for battle as well, and same- nothing happened.
