On Sunday, Feb. 9, 1964. . .the British invasion began when a group from Liverpool made their American debut on a little television show called "The Ed Sullivan Show". . .and the rest is history.

Did anyone else watch this special on Sun. Feb. 9, 2014. . .the 50th Anniversary of that fateful day?

It really was a star-packed special, though I by some of the performers attempt at singing Beatles' songs. . .like John Legend and Alicia Keys doing "Let It Be". . .to me, he did a great job, but she didn't. . .

And some of the pairings were rather odd, like Pharrell Williams and Brad Paisley doing "Here comes the Sun." (which actually seemed like a case of dueling hats).

It was a star-studded affair that highlighted a set by Ringo, then a set by Paul and then the final set with both Paul and Ringo. . .

Overall, it was a pretty good show, a great slice of history, including an interview of Paul and Ringo by David Letterman and video montages of John, Paul, George and Ringo growing up as well as vintage scenes from that first show so very long ago.

Did anyone else see it? If so, what do you think about the show, the performers, etc.?

While I didn't see the special, I am a huge fan of the Beatles. Thanks to my mom that is. She was a pre teen during Beatle Mania and thankfully she passed along her love for amazing music to her children.

And it's crazy... My little first grader came in one day singing 'Hey Jude' and I sat and listened without him knowing I was paying attention. He knew EVERY word. Blew me away. He started singing again and I started in with him. He looked at me as if I was an alien and asked me how I knew that song. I couldn't help but to giggle. I think it's great they are teaching this amazing music in his school and I am sure that they told him about the Beatles and the song but he was just too young to understand.
