Welcome all to the Red Rose Airship! I'm Amberlane Trois, and I'm here right now to explain this RP!
---
This is an RP where you get to pretend you're on a cruise. Then again, saying "pretend" makes it sound like we're kids. *sets up a big cut out of a Purple Dinosaur* Right, this RP will be where you RP that you are on the ship until Flink posts that we are no longer on the ship. Flink assures you the announcments of such will be obvious. They will be on the first post and also in a post somewhere in the RP, because Flink will RP of her character, Amberlane, leaving the ship or doing whatever.

The different places will have a theme, which Flink will mention, themes such as Mexico, Japan, or the like. What happens there and what that place consists of will be up to you, the RPers!

More information on the RP:

This is a modern RP. The ship itself has 13 stories, this includes the deck, but not the very top deck, which is where the captain is. The captain and all crew consists of NPCs, but if you would like to be a part of the crew, aside from the Captain, please post so when you post your application. Also, all posts before Flink accepts your application will be ignored!

Also, all people who apply MUST be literate. This means proper spelling and grammar. As in: Capitalisation, proper punctuation, and no using shortcuts like 'u,' 'ur,' or 'no' for the word 'know!' I do understand that everyone's spelling isn't perfect, but at least try.

Current Location of the Ship:

The ship is currently boarding until further notice. This means you RP that your character is boarding the ship or has JUST boarded.

Characters:
FlinkPamingo -- Amberlane Trois -- Events Organizer --Human -- Female
Plastic Lemon -- Enelya Ruluzia -- Software Engineer -- Human -- Female

"Yes, sir I know the customers are to be checked in and everything, I'll see to that. No, I won't act like a child, I'm an adult now," a purple hair woman in a black and grey pinstripe suit was talking into what looked like a simple golden pipe in the wall and in response was the voice of a man, seemingly chattering away about being immature. The woman was shaking her head at almost everything he said, apparently annoyed that he would think she'd act like a teenager when she had business to attend to. Finally the man stopped talking and the woman answered him one last time, "Don't worry. I've got everything covered. And if I need help all of the crew here trusts me and will do what I need them to in an emergency." A huff could be heard on the other end then a click, the woman left shaking her head.

Amberlane took a moment to calm down from being insulted and called a child before she turned to the mirror beside her and checked to see if her business suit was on right, she wanted to look presentable as she greeted the new passengers to the newly opened Red Rose, which her uncle owned. After noting that her black and grey pinstripe suit was nice and orderly she then checked the bun in which her purple hair was held and smiled approvingly about that also. Which a final look in the mirror she turned towards the door of her quarters on the fifth floor and headed out to the deck where she could greet the newcomers.

The deck was huge and finely decorated with colourful flowers, all of which accented the dark red finish of the wood the Red Rose itself was made of, one of the arrangements she took a yellow flower from and put it in her hair so she wouldn't look completely like a bore and grabbed her clipboard and took a seat on a stool right by the ramp the people would be coming up on, "Please check in here, my name is Amberlane and I will be the hostess of all parties and various events on this airship. If you want your room number or even if you already have it, please check with me so I can put that you're here. Especially come here if you're part of the new crew, so I can tell you where to go get your uniforms."

Enelya stared up at the majestic airship, wondering why she hadn't moved form her place about twenty feet from the staircase. People were easily passing her by, all ignoring probably the youngest person stadnig there alone. She had been dreaming of this vacation for months, and now her feet wouldn't budge no matter how hard she mentally insulted herself. Suddenly ,her eyes glinted with joy as she remembered what would always comfort her. She slowly slipped her hand into her pinstriped bag and ran her fingers over the sleek laptop hidden inside. The ridges of the ivy leaf design brought her a surge of confidence, and a grin spread across her face. Immediatly, she realized some of her hunter green hair was hanging in her eyes again, and she pulled out a small pot of pomeade. Rubbing her hands together with a small amount of the gel-like substance, she ran her fingers through her hair, pulling her bangs to the side and slicking the rest of her hair back to the fluffy ponytail she had done in a hurry this morning. She put away the pomeade and pulled out a small hand mirror, giving her pale face a final glance over before putting everything away and picking up her matching pistripe suitcase. She glanced around, realizing the crowds were thinning out. She also realized a bunch of them were very neatly dressed, in suits and some even gowns. She glanced down at herself in shame, realizing she was probably the only one dressed in a casual style. Her skirt, short enough to require a pair of black leggings underneath, was faded and worn. Her sneakers were chunky skateboarding shoes from one of her old boyfriends, and they had her own name written numerous times around the sole. Her jean blazer was probably the only dignified thing about her, and even it had one of her kinky touches on it: a set of ivy leaves done in dark thread. She straightened her balck shirt, searched for her ticket, and headed for the staircase with the rest of the people boarding.

She spotted a kind looking woman in a neat suit once reaching the top, and made her way over. she didn't need to speak, she just handed the woman her ticket.Somehow Enelya wa snever the social butterfly her parents had dreamed she would be. She waited patiently for the woman to give her the ticket and other information back, her silver eyes darting from the yellow flower in the woman's hair to her nametag, which Enelya didn't pause to read. She stared around at the flower filled deck, watching the people mingle with strangers in envy. Somehow she'd never be able to do that kind of thing.

[Sorry for taking so long]

Amberlane took the lady's ticket and looked it over before grabbing a bright pink piece of paper and handing it to her. "That has your room name in it and your key is... uhm let me show you because I haven't gotten the whole thing straight myself." She grabbed a piece of paper from the stack and motioned to the bottom, "This card on the bottom is your key. It's a lot more durable than it seems, but please try not to ruin it. If you ever need another key, just ask for Amberlane, everyone in the crew will know who you mean."

She gave the girl one final smile and motioned to the ship, "Welcome aboard the Red Rose, enjoy your stay and talk to me if you need anything." She nodded at the next customer who seemed to be trying to push the girl out of her way, but Amberlane waved her hand at the lady, "Have some patience, this isn't a race. All rooms are prebooked, so there's no way you can miss the best ones." She smiled at the lady and gave her a pink paper also, then stuck her tongue out that lady's back as she walked off with her luggage. "I did nothing."

Enelya paced along the length of the ship, her pink paper and key clutched in her fist. She found a place along the front edge that wasn't swarmed with people, and set her shoulderbag on the edge of the airship. She flipped open the flap, zipped open a zipper, and placed the key and pink slip along with her passport and important documents. She sighed, looking down at her latop again. A couple of thin computer programming guides were in there as well, but she realized her cell phone had died.

"Well,"she reasoned, sighing hopelessly, "It's not like any of my friends are going to call me anyway. They've all either got better things to do forschool, or they have their own vacation to attend to. I'm glad I was excused from the project everyone else got for Spring Break." She smiled, looking out over the grassy plain the airship was tethered to. The grass ruffled slightly in the breeze, and she longed to be off the ship and back on the ground. No, she mentally slapped herself, she'd been looking forward to this vacation. no flaking out now. She turned to face the crowd again, her smile turning uneasy. She pulled her bag off the edge of the ship, her uneasy grin not fading as she realized how many people were on board now. She fingered the edge of her ponytail like she always did when she was nervous, and slowly slid down to the paneled floor.

"No point in mingling too early," she reasoned, throwing one last look around before arranging herself so she was comfortable and sliding out her laptop. She mamnaged to undo the clasp on the edge [her own easyily homemade security device, before the rock anthem of "Back in Black" by ACDC started echoing out of her bag. Several people turned to look at her on the ground, gownless and instead lacking fancy clothing, and Enelya grinned off their stares. Of all the places to have my phone go off, she sighed, slipping away her laptop and pulling out a small black cellphone, This had to be it.

"Its only my mother," she shrugged, and flipped open the phone. "I'm fine mom. a kind woman named Amberlane helped me get set and now I'm wating for the airship to take off. I'll be sure to call you when we get to our next destination." Enelya watched as a small light on her laptop glowed blue, and realized her laptop recorded the reminder. "It seems your programming skills aren't too shabby, mom. I'll pull the bugs out later," Enelya nodded into the phone, knowing the computer had probably stored the clip in some impossible to find place. "By om," she smiled, and hung up, ignoring the protesting of a shabby 40 year old programmer.

Zowie stepped out of his parents' limo and stood in shock for a minute. What had possessed him to finally say yes to the cruise? His parents were off at some important meeting, and had decided he needed to socialize with someone besides the household servants... despite his pleas to just let him be. Friends had never been a good thing for him - everyone just wanted money. His parents wanted to show him off (he had the looks, so why couldn't he be a model?), and everyone else wanted his money. The servants may or may not be there just because they had to be, but they were the closest he had ever had to real, reliable friends.

None the less, he had somehow been convinced to go on this cruise and now he was standing here dreading it. With a sigh, he leaned back into the car "Thanks Max... write or something, eh? Make sure I don't totally lose my mind with this lot of snobs." The driver laughed, waited for Zowie to close the door, and then drove off - he had to drive Zowie's parents to the airport next.

Zowie, however, continued to stand there. He wasn't quite sure what to do next. There had to be somewhere to check in, of course, but people weren't really his thing - and there were definitely a lot of people. He picked up his bag - purposely only having one - he didn't want anyone to try and lug his luggage around for him, and if his parents were going to make him endure this thing he was at least going to take every excuse possible to spend their money. Then they might think twice next time. This, of course, was very un-Zowie-like behavior. He had had a credit card since the age of eight, and had refused to spend more than $100 a year - but he had decided exceptions could be made for a cruise.

With another heavy sigh, he started to make his way in the general direction the rest of the crowd seemed to be going, eventually ending up facing a woman with a clipboard.

Eyes downcast as always - a habit he had picked up in a futile attempt to keep the general population of flirting girls away - he set his bag down beside him and started to rummage through his pockets. After a moment, he pushed a hand through his thick mass of red hair, mumbling "I know it's here somewhere" and blushing slightly as he checked a pocket on the outside of his bag. "Here we go" he sounded confident for such an anti-social person as he handed his ticket to the woman "Zowie Kane..." He glanced around him, then added only half jokingly "What does a guy have to do to get off this deck?"

Amberlane smiled at the young man and took his ticket before handing him his pink paper, "You could always retire to your room. But you will be called out later for the emergency evacuation practice, it's company policy, not that I much like it." She looked a bit put off by the very idea of this practice thing as she handed him another ticket, "Free meal on me. If you'll be so kind, could you find a miss Enelya and hand her the other one? She seemed a bit uncomfortable too. And trust me, the food here is awesome." She nodded rather pleased with herself.

She was about to say something else when a man came up behind her and cleared his throat, "I trust you're doing a good job, Amber?"

Amberlane twitched, shaking her head, "Don't call me that. Only my uncle can call me that, and you're not him. Besides, if you call me that, I'll call you by your middle name and I doubt the captain wants to be called that."

The man paled, then shook his head, "You're right... Very well then, Amberlane." He nodded to Zowie, "Welcome aboard the Red Rose. I'm the captain, Fredrick. I hope you enjoy your trip. Now, Amberlane, remember to keep certain crew members from the bar, that includes you."

She about choked laughing, "Right, right... no bar for me. I don't even drink. So it'll be really hard to stay away."

Enelya watched as a red-headed boy stepped on deck, and a gnawing feeling in her stomach made her feel like she had seen him before. She paused, in the process of putting her phone away, and brought the cell phone back up to her face. She flipped open the cover, pressing a small button with a small camera on it. From her security of the floral arrangements she was only able to zoom in far enough so his body was filling the screen, beyond that and the pixels would cause the screen to blur. She took a quick snapshot of the red headed gentleman, managing to muffle the loud shutter sound it made just in time. She stuffed the phone back in her bag, not quite sure why she had taken a picture of a perfect stranger, but sure it would prove useful later. Enelya pulled out her laptop once more, glancing about at the people still wandering about on deck.

"Jesus, are these planning to go eat anytime soon? They can't stay here forever can they?" she asked, then glanced down at the laptop sitting on her knees. She quickly undid the safety mechanism, inserted the code once several blue boxes popped up, and popped the only square bubble on the screen (her own idea). She starte Internet Explorer, pulling out google and typing in 'airship boarding procedures'.

"27,000" hits, " she muttered, scrolling through the links, "Aha. Here's one. All airships will conduct a mandatory evacucation proceudre before takeoff." Enelya frowned, shutting the window and opening up a game of solitare. She quickly shuffled through the cards while mumbling to herself. "I feel so childish. All the men and women here probably reason the procedure for their safety and feel better afterwards, but I really don't want to participate.Maybe...." she glanced around, shutting her laptop and stowing it in her bag. Memories of herself hiding out during Athletics at her old high school played like movies in the back of her mind as she, for the first time, dove below the deck. Following the spiral staircase, she reasoned. "I would need to put my bag away first. It'll be hard to run from authourity [if I get caught] with this bag and my precious laptop inside clunking against my leg." She glanced at her door key, matching with a numbered door on the wall. She slowly eased open the door, listening to the lack of squeaking like at her own apartment, and caught the first glance of her new room.

Amberlane looked around the deck of the boat for anyone of interest. She was determined to make some friends on the maiden voyage of this ship. So far the only two who seemed remotely interesting was the rich looking fellow, she could tell by his eyes if you asked her, and that girl with the computer. She wrote their names down really quickly before turning her attention to an old lady who apparently thought her dog deserved its own room.

"Ma'am, we can't give your dog a room. The rooms we have left are for in case someone wants to board at one of our stops." She frowned when the woman looked like she was about to cry.

"You don't understand, AmberLan." This caused Amberlane to wince as the lady continued, "Floofsy needs her own room. She's a very expensive dog and needs a lot of space. She has two floors just for her needs in my home. And I can pay you double for the room."

Amberlane shook her head, "Sorry. All rooms on this ship are large enough, I'm sure. And the furniture is hard, so don't let her gnaw it. I'm also certain you don't want the redwood finish to be digested by her, either. If you like, I can give you one of the pet safe rooms."

The woman just glared at her, snatching the pink ticket, "Nevermind. You're obviously insensitive to Floofsy's needs. I'm going to go complain to the captain!"

She cocked her brow at the lady, but didn't say another word, instead she suppressed a snicker and turned to the next customer, "Greetings, and welcome to the Red Rose Airship."

Enelya had not moved from her place in the doorway. She hadn't even bothered to switch on the lightswitch. She was just staring into the darkness, her emerald eyes blank. Suddenly the barking of a dog brought her back to her senses, and she narrowed her eyes. Slowly she backed away from her room, shutting the door.

She turned to make her way back up to the deck, but instantly crashed into a short obese woman carrying a pitiful fuzzball what Enelya guessed to be a dog. However, the sound of a snapping strap caused Enelya to twitch around and lunge for her bag that carried her precious laptop.

Too Late.
The bag hit the ground with a sickening [to Enelya's ears] zap of memories lost.

"Foofsy!" the woman cried, watching her dog scamper down the hallway.

"You care about a stupid little dog instead of my laptop? You know you're going to pay for that?" Enelya grabbed the woman by her furry collar, pulling so they were inches apart.

"SECURITY!" the woman screeched, and Enelya stumbled back. Suddenly she realized what kind of trouble she was in, and took off in the opposite direction that two beefy men were coming from, right towards the stairs for the deck. Enelya didn't care where she was going, she had her now broken laptop clutched to her chest and was chraging up the staircase to the deck.

Amberlane was about to eat her lunch, which had been delivered to her when one of the ships security guards came running up, "Miss Amberlane... The dog lady, she apparently caused a commotion. The girl in room 315 was apparently involved."

Amberlane frowned, putting her sandwich down, "You watch this place, you know how to do my job, right?"

The man nodded.

"Good." With that Amberlane stood up and practically pushed the man in the seat before sprinting off through the crowd on the deck, most of them moving out of her way, "Where is she..." She was about to head downstairs when she noticed the girl from earlier coming up the stairs and walked towards her, smiling, "Enelya, apparently your stay here was made a bit unpleasant, now, because you start apologising, don't worry. I'd like to hear your side first. Then I can be biased when I hear that dog lady's side."

"I wasn't planning to apologize. That stupid Floofzy woman broke my pride and joy. I got that laptop when I was 10 years old form my dad, the same year he was murdered. That's seven years worth of woman-hours to get my laptop where it is today," Enelya growled, her eyes now cold and unforgiving. She could hear the woman with the dog obbssession heeving her way up the stairs, and it added fuel to her fire.

"That was my only gift from my dad, and that bloody woman snapped in two!" Enelya hissed, going back to her mild British accent that she had worked so hard to remove. Slowly her knees began to get weak, and she collapsed to the ground, aware of the scene she was making. She uplled her bag off of her shoulder and pulled out her laptop, or rather the display half. She then pulled out the keyboard, hastily fiddling with the CD slot. She managed to rip it open, and pulled out a hunter green CD that matched her tear rimmed eyes.

"This is the only back up I've got. That woman had better get me a new one, quick," Enelya shuddered, managing to rise back to her feet as the obese woman stepped out onto the deck.

"We will deal with the situation immediately, the security staff was watching the cameras at that time." Amberlane turned towards a door to her right and yelled, "FRANKO! Report on that tape!"

Moments later a nervous looking fellow with thick glasses ran out onto the deck and handed Amberlane a stack of paper, "I wrote the report quickly as possible..." He looked at her expectantly then frowned, "Oh right... not that type. Well, the lady and her dog are responsible. By most rules that all passengers sign when boarding this ship we're not responsible, but seeing as how... Nevermind." He looked off into the distance, blushing horribly.

Amberlane just grinned, turning to the lady. "Right. Hear that? You're responsible. This means this girl has every right to file a complaint against you as according to rule 5, section 19, one page 5,345 in this ship's rule book for passengers, you should look it up, that you have to either give her something of equivalent value or buy her a new one." Amberlane looked to a clock on the wall nearby, happy they had clocks everywhere on this ship and grinned rather devilishly, "According to standard time you have a few hours to escort this girl off the ship, find a computer store, and buy her a new laptop with the specifications her old one had."

The lady looked at Amberlane like she had suddenly grown quite a few new limbs, shaking her head, "I will not buy that brat anything!" She looked at Amberlane like she was about to slap her when Amberlane reached her hands out for the dog, "You can't have Floofsy! He's worth more than that stupid computer!"

Amberlane shook her head, "Ah, we'll just have to make her worth the same then. Unless you have some nice jewelry you're willing to part with." The girl put her hands back behind her back and started rocking back and forth on her heels, "Or you could do the easy thing and take her to get a new laptop, it's not that hard, really. Besides, we'll wait on you to get back, I promise."

The lady frowned, petting her dog which seemed to be rather happy to see Amberlane again, wagging its tail and trying to get her to pet it, which she finally did. The lady just glared at her, moving so the dog wasn't near the girl, "Fine! I'll buy the brat a laptop. We'll take my limo, which should still be here in case I change my mind. I'm not walking among these peasants." She then turned to Enelya, "Don't mess with ANYTHING in my limo."

Enelya grinned, watching the woman break down under Amberlane. Suddenly she realized the woman was talking to her.

"..Mess with anything in my limo..." was all that Enelya caught, and her eyebrows raised. The woman turned towards the exit of the ship, and Enelya waved goodbye to Amberlane before following the obese woman off the ship. She wasn't going to listen to the woman's words this time, she felt like cutting her a wee bit of slack. But that didn't mean she wasn't going to enjoy the woman's misery.

"So...my laptop had a massive hardrive, and the only hardware capatible with that would be a slim black laptop ,perferably a Presario V6000 by Compaq [my actualy computer right now], enabled with the newest update by Windows, Windows Vista. And, I need access to the programming files. So we'll need to go somehwere where the employees really know their stuff. I suggest Best Buy, about a couple of miles...that way," Enelya swung out her arm, narrowly avoiding the woman's face but managing to mess with her poofy hair. The woman shot her a glare that could melt icicles, but Enelya happily ignored it, leaping into the woman's limousine and yanking open the fridge. She pulled out a Diet Coke, and shot the fuming woman a friendly grin. "Well, come on then. Best Buy isn't open forever."

Two hours later, the pair pulled back up to the airship, Enelya carrying a laptop and a neat hunter green case with a pair of black headphones dangling out. She clutched the laptop with one hand, still shut, and slid in the backup CD into the slot while chatting with the woman.

"It's a good thing I know when a man is trying to cheat me out of something. Honestly, if I hadn't whacked him, he would have sold me an Windows XP. And also I gotta admit something to you. My dad didn't give me that laptop, and he wasn't murdered. He lives far away in Tokyo, so it's kind of like he's dead. But he gave me a ferret, which has been hiding out in a cage somewhere on the ship. But I thank you for the new computer!" Enelya struggled to hold back her laughter as she watched the woman's face turn purple, and skipped happily off to find Amberlane.

Amberlane had since returned to her station at the front ramp and was looking rather bored. She'd checked everyone that was checking in really early already and had nothing to do. So she was playing a game of Solitaire when Franko the fellow from earlier came to the chair Amberlane was sitting in.

"Care for some company?" He asked, looking at the floor nervously.

"Sure, I'd like some crackers. Do you have cream cheese and chive," she asked as she put a queen down on the table in front of her, looking thoughtful.

Franko just sighed, "You're horrible at paying attention."

With that Amberlane looked up and frowned, "Oh, sorry. Thought you asked if I wanted some crackers. Maybe I should go look and see if that girl's back. I heard that woman's annoying dog barking earlier."

Franko just nodded, "I'll... take over here, if you want."

Amberlane grinned, giving him a thumb's up, "You rock the docks, man. Back in a jiffy!" With another thumb's up and a wave, Amberlane left Franko to find Enelya. When Amberlane found the girl she ran up to her and swung her arm around the girl's neck, "So, I think you and I are the best actors on this whole ship, eh? Did she get you a good laptop? I wanna see it."

Enelya felt Amberlane's arms around her shoulders, but she ignored her request to see the new laptop. Her face was scurnched up with worry as she felt around in her old shoulderbag with one hand while looking about with her green eyes. She bit her lower lip, looking up at Amberlane.

"I lost Edwyna, my albino ferret that my dad gave me," Enelya whispered, dead serious. The sparkle had left her eyes, and her lip was slowly loosing its color from the pressure she was placing on it.

"Knowing it...." Enelya left off, and she suddenly shot forward through the mass of people, not worrying if Amberlane was following. Suddenly she heard a cry of alarm and several rich folk screaming from the front of the airship, and grin suddenly spread acrossher previously worried face. "Even on a rich ship, Edwyna can find a way to make catstrophe," she laughed, leaping past several people and sweeping the feeret off the table it had scurried on. Good timing as well, for the Floofsy woman was about to smack her handbag down on the furry beast.

"Safe at last," Enelya smiled down at the ferret, and then looked up at the woman, her handbag still in the air, "I told you I had received a ferret from my dad, didn't I?" She then promptly snatched a dinner roll from the woman's plate, gave ehr a quick wink, and fed it to the hungry ferret in front of arms.
