Congratulations to the winners:
1st prize: Blazestorm
2nd prize: Sethan Bowman
3rd prize: Lady Owl
Blazestorm and Sethan Bowman, please contact me at your earliest convenience with your choices. Please remember, there are only the 3 wings. 1st prize gets first pick, second chooses form the remaining two and 3rd place gets whatever's left (not a bad leftover if you ask me! )
Thank you to everyone who participated! You did a marvelous job of making our task nearly impossible!
Halloween is almost upon us, and we would love to see your vision of it!
To this end, we have once more pulled out the old tablets, quills and paints and challenge you all to show us Halloween through your eyes.
As members of Zantarni, we would dearly love to see what you would expect to see while wandering around town on All Hallow's Eve. Kids trick-or-treating? Graveyards and ghosts? Witches or Vampires? Show us what makes the hair rise on the back of your neck!
To reiterate, the rules are:
1) Keep it PG13 clean and follow the site rules (gore, violence, etc.).
2) One entry per person. No mules
3) Only your own original work will be accepted.
4) The contest thread will be locked November 1st.
5) Free hand work only, regardless of medium. (Text can be photoshopped in)
6) We are looking for *your vision* of a Zantarni Halloween. Scenic or itemized, it's your choice.
7) If you choose to change your entry, you may do so by editing your entry post *only*. If you do not, all subsequent posts will be disqualified. (see rule 2)
Rules will be updated as the need arises!
So draw those curtains closed, light up a candle or six and set the mood: We want your best and spookiest.
Good luck to all!
Concerning Digital Art...
Overview added by Blazestorm
All artworks submitted for this contest should be created by your own hand and not rendered with a computer program. Computer-rendered pieces are not permitted for this contest.
You may use a tablet to draw directly into Photoshop (or similar program), but can not use any computer program that helps render or generate the artwork for you. We are looking for creativity and talent, not a good rendering program.
You may use the tools available in Photoshop (such as gradient fills and dodge/burn tools) so long as you direct the tools by hand (no computer-rendered effects or drawing).
You may use a paint program to add text such as "Happy Halloween" or a signature.
You may be asked to provide a WIP (Work In Progress)... particularly if you submit a digital piece (as well as the name of the program you used to create your submission). If you can not provide this, your work may be disqualified from the competition.

Umm, are we allowed to do digital art? Cause there's no category for that, and HH's is a digital art, I think.
If so, then can we do pixel art? Because the other pixel art category means edits. D: _________________ My Bribe Art Shop

It's okay to do digital art for this contest. :3 You can either use the traditional method, or digital.

v.v; Traditional and CG are so different. There should be another category for CG. Mmnph...well..my traditional art can't compete with CG so...guess I won't enter. <_<' _________________

More clarity for us non-arty type people please... is CG Rendering like the 3-D renders? I have a tablet and PSP9... If I draw, doodle or otherwise "paint" in that, that is acceptable? But I can't do what?... with it? I can't use clipart or parts of images pasted together? I can't colour it (like we did with the Zantarni Mage image a while back)... or can I?
I guess basically I'm asking what's the difference between CGing something, CG Rendering something and simply using software like Photoshop or PSP and a tablet?
To me, CGing is like what's in Turtles sig and "Tradition Art" is like what's in Tal's sig. Are both of those acceptable mediums or not?

Here is mine
and it is really not fair as I see it, if you are going to have CG art make it a whole other contest and leave this one to people who draw freehand with paper and pencile. Otherwise why even have it a traditional art contest at all. _________________ I miss Artagone, my home...

Just for clarification as I'm a bit confused...if I resubmit my picture, without the font portion on it, then it should be acceptable for this contest, correct?
The picture was done in a painter program which simulates oil painting using different brushes and was all done by hand using the mouse. There was no 'click and fill' texturing, and no shapes or stencils or anything of that sort used to make the images in the picture. The only thing I did was add the font using Paint.net.
In my opinion, my picture could be considered traditional art, less the font because of the type of art it is. It's not really different than if I were to paint on a canvas using oil paints.
