A Colorfully Themed Charity/Giveaway
Welcome to my little thread! I'm Dusty, a long time member of Zantarni. I guess at this point I'd consider myself an "oldbie..." I've been here since 2008. My goal is to have fun getting items into the hands of people who might enjoy them. I miss the days of having a more active site... Even though I've always been a bit of a lurker (I don't usually venture outside of my threads or my friends' threads).
I have included a newbie guide below (adapted from a former charity of mine). Feel free to take a look! (And ask any questions or add anything if I'm missing something important.
Want items?
There are no account age requirements or activity requirements to receive items. However, if you are more active on the site and you stick around (or you've been around) for a long time you will have a better chance at getting more rare items (not all of the items you get will be rare however).
I'm going to be a bit untraditional in the sense that I am not going to list items that I will be distributing. Just know that they may range from commons, event items, or even donation items depending on what I feel like letting go of.
Keeping a list is usually too much work for me, and it makes me feel stressed.
Items may come from Dusty, Ambition, or Serah!
So, instead I want you to post a theme or a color (or both), and I'll see if I have anything that looks like something you might want! You are allowed to do this once a day. And, I might give you a (few) bonus item(s) if you stick around and post. I may also send items of higher value to people who chat more frequently.

So, I'm new or just returned... Where do I start?
To get started, you'll probably want to take a look at the Rules and the Zandex. The Help page is also helpful and provides some basic information about the site and who to contact if you have any questions.
To earn gold, many users fish or mine (posting is probably the easiest way to earn gold, but you need to make long posts... I'll cover this later). Both of these require energy or "NRG" as your sidebar calls it. You can sell your finds and catches to The Trader, or with mining you can refine your resources at the Forge. However, I would only recommend refining your gold and bronze ores, these are really the only profitable ones. Deeds are another way to earn money, but in addition to taking energy deeds also take courage.
So you're out of energy... Not to worry, you can always wait for it to refill or buy some apples or mushrooms from The Food Shop. Be careful not to overfill your NRG gauge though, you won't get any excess NRG back. Apples are worth 25 NRG, and blue mushrooms are worth 50.
Did your canary die? Is there a storm rolling in? If so, you have reached your cap on fishing and mining for the next 8 hours. I believe the current 8 hour limit is 400 NRG spent. Don't worry though, posting is an excellent way to earn gold as well as meet people.
There are a few things you should avoid when posting like double/triple/quadruple posting (or making several consecutive posts with no one posting in between your posts) in a single thread, copying and pasting content (such as long recipes - leave a link instead), or posting anything that could be rated above "PG-13." You should also be polite and courteous when posting. And understand that the site is much slower than it used to be.
One good place to post is the Place of Dreams. This is the forum where quest threads go. And, I'm sure that after you play around with the Fitting Room you will want to start questing for a few of the donation items, event items, sor smuggler's shop items that aren't sold in the regular or "common shops." (If you ever need to know how much an item sells for, check the price guide).
Another forum worth checking out would be The Tournament Grounds, this is where user-run and site-run contests are held. These offer a place to chat as well as prizes for participating. If you're just looking for a place to chat, head over to The Main Hall, this is the equivalent to a "general discussion" board on most other avatar sites.
If you want to sell art, you should check out The Creative Exchange and the Artists Quarter.
Also, if you like role playing, The Hero's Realm would be a good place for you to check out.

Color or Theme: Woodland theme? (or greens and brown?)
Fun fact or story: I hate hermit crabs. Not only did my roommate bring one home today, but I learned they chirp. This is terrible. The only plus side is that they're both named after characters in Dragon Age and I get to design the tank like the Hissing Wastes.

Razak: Hermit crabs are stinky. My brother used to have three, I think? I'm not particularly fond of them either, but anything Dragon Age themed is good! That sounds like an awesome tank! Which characters are they named after?  *goes to look through items*

Dusty: Thank you so much for the cloak, it's perfect! They're named Adaar and Cadash respectively, after the last names of the Quinari and Dwarven inquisitor. I helpfully supplied "Ser Pounce-a-lot" after Anders' cat in DA 2 but unfortunately that didn't fly.

You're very welcome! I'm glad you like it! It's one of my favorite non-DI cloaks on site.
Adaar and Cadash are good, but Ser-Pounce-A-Lot would have been better. I missed having that cat around through DA2 and DA:I. If you didn't already know ~ he (Pounce) was super helpful in Awakening, (he was a unique item that would revive your whole party and restore them to either full or half health, can't remember which). He saved my poor warden more times than I can count!

Dusty, I haven't played Awakening yet, but I just finished Inquisition and I've played DA2 way too many times. I am an Anders fan, so of course I'm a fan of Pounce. I'm ready to go back and play everything, I just need to get it!
And welcome, Obsidian! How are you doing? I love storms too, so long as I'm not forced to drive in them!

Obsidian Artist: Welcome to Zantarni! I'll try to be in here more frequently than I have been the past few days! Sorry for my absence. I'm doing quite well! Just busy with homework (I'm trying to get all my work for the week done so I can go to a conference down at the beach on Thursday).
Storms are awesome! I'm actually taking a climatology course right now!
Razak: I'm sure you'll love it! There's plenty of Anders in it. (And Nathaniel is my other favorite from that one). Oh gosh. Inquisition takes up too much of my life right now. It's a serious (lovely, wonderful, amazing) problem. And I played DA2 too many times too. What's your favorite type of character to play as?
Bo: Tungry should be a new word. It think it describes my state of being 9 times out of 10.
