Welcome to Moon's Shleepy Time thread. I'm sure your here for story time and a slumber party but first we need to get to know each other. Feel free to answer the question of the day to join the conversation.

Question of the Day:
Do you have a creed? [4/13]
Describe your ideal day. [4/12]
Dog person or cat person? [4/11]
Inside or outdoors? [4/10]
Do you care about your ethnicity?[4/9]
What musical artists have you most felt connected to over your lifetime?[4/8]
Are you an artist?[4/7]
Do you identify yourself by the things you do? [4/6]
Are you religious/spiritual? [4/5]
Do you like your name? is there another name you think would fit you better? [4/4]
List your fandoms and one character from each that you identify with. [4/3]
Have you ever found a writer who thinks just like you? if so, who? [4/2]
If someone wanted to really understand you, what would they read, watch, and listen to? [4/1]

As many of you know I'm hugely into books. I would love to hear your thoughts on the last book you read...or feel free to read along with me as I try and read the far too many books bought.

Book Questions:
Do you empathize with the characters?
Are their voices genuine, are they believable?
Does the book 'break the mold' in any way?
Do the themes blend naturally with the storyline or do you feel the author is using his/her character to labor a particular point?
If set in the future-do you think its a credible view of the future?
If it is written recently do you think it will date well or not?
If it was written sometime ago does it feel like its a product of its time?
Do you think your opinion of the book would change if you where younger or older?
Do you think the book jacket synopsis and illustration did a good job of indicating the type of book it is?
Will you read this book again?
How did the book affect you?
In what ways do the events in the books reveal evidence of the author's world view?
Is their any moral responsibility that was abdicated?
Is the ending satisfying?

Awesome new thread Moonie Very Happy

Hmm to answer the question you posted, I'd have to say if I had to categorize what I read to be understood, I'd say a healthy supply of fantasy and sci-fi novels. Smile as for watching, I'd say things like sci-fi, fantasy and horror movies. as well as cartoons and comedy themed sitcoms. and pretty much any kind of music, though I'm not really big into country music,

-edit- >.< sorry missed the don't post bit in the title this morning when I posted

You didn't miss it. I added it after seeing your post. I thought that saying it was under construction was enough. I wasn't done. DX

If someone wanted to really understand you, what would they read, watch, and listen to?

I would say they would need to read Jurassic park, watch House, and listen to U2.

Yeah, I like my name. I wish it was less common though. But I feel like that's mostly because my last name is too common. I think my "American" name suited me better as a kid, but it was kinda a kiddish name. Not sure what I would name myself now.

I will eventually answer more questions but for now I felt like sharing my weird day.

I walked an extra 2 miles for Tacobell and it was worth it.
Drunk and or high guy told me he loved me.
Finally talked to another Ed major on the bus tried to give him my number and totally miss wrote it. XD I should memorize that thing better.

How did I not see this (Taco Bell trip) before? XD

Drunk people can be awesome, emphasis on can.

Sometimes I think the only reason I remember my number is because my sister's number is only one off of mine. Razz

**Stalks Moony's new thread** BOOOOOOOOOKS!! Luffles

I'mma save your questions for another day when I have more time, but I'm currently reading "Quantum Theory Cannot Hurt You" by Marcus Chown. It's a small book, but it's taking me over a month to read it because I have to put the book down every couple of pages to try and process what they're talking about.

And considering how many times my mind's been blown, I think the title is a lie. >________>

Razzzz

So how is everyone doing? Heart

Tis I want to hear more about this book.

I have a major test tomorrow...probably the most important test of my life...and I am not going to pass.

How did the test go?

So I FINALLY finished the book. It was a fantastic look at quantum physics and how it affects us at both the atomic level and the macro level, and how it relates (or not) to the Theory of Relativity.

We went from atoms to the Big Bang in the span of approximately 160 pages, and Chow does an amazing job of explaining things without weighing you down with all the mathematics. (Which is exactly what I was looking for.)

So if you're like me and love the theory of sciences (sans the mind-numbing equations), I highly recommend this book. Yes

It wasn't as bull **** as the practice test so I'm not too worried.

I'm not a huge fan of physics for that exact reason, it has to be proven with math.

Hey. Sorry I've been away for so long...spring is trying to kill me with it's buildup of assorted chores. I'm slowly getting closer to getting on top of it, but...

ANYWAY. BOOKS. I've just started reading Summer of the Ubume by Natsuhiko Kyogoku. I got it from the library because I read most of the manga based on it, and loved it! But the manga site I'm reading it on hasn't finished it yet, and updated are slow. I got excited when I found out there was an anime, but they changed the appearance of ALL the characters, and that ticked me off so much, I never watched it. I read somewhere that the translation of the original novel was good, so I thought I'd try that.

I've only just started, so only two of the characters have been introduced so far, but the tone of the book seems close enough to the manga that I think I'm going to enjoy it. Smile
