We all find facts and myths and tall tales about some of the most common things. . .some are cute, some are odd and some are out and out weird. Go ahead and post things that you have found here:

Why Tabby Cats have the "M" on Their Foreheads. . .

I was watching cat videos earlier this week (imagine that) and was watching one talking about orange tabby cats. The video was pointing out differences and the final bit was about how ALL tabby cats got the "M" on their foreheads.

They said it went back to the birth of Jesus. The baby Jesus was fussing because the stable was so cold, so Mary asked the animals there to gather around the baby to help keep him warm. Jesus kept fussing until a tabby cat came into the stable and crawled into the manger with him and kept him warm as he slept.

To thank the tabby for what it did, Mary marked its forehead with an "M" so that all would remember that when her son was cold, it was a tabby cat who answered Mary's plea. . ."M" for Mary.

Have you heard any such stories, please post them here.

The internet is only for cat video so it makes sense!

I learned something interesting about the origins of minigolf recently.

Back in 1867, a group of women formed the Ladies' Putting Club of St. Andrews as a response to the belief of the day that golf was unladylike. The wives of the male golfers took over the caddies' putting green at the 17th hole of the St. Andrews golf club and were often found there, practicing their putting. It was a strictly putting-only affair, as raising the club back past the shoulder was considered quite improper for women of the time.

How know lifting raising a putter over your shoulder was unladylike back then, how things have changed Laughing

I love the story of putt-putt golf. . .and I can see where in the past, it was scandalous for a woman to raise their arms above their shoulders. . .as the old saying goes, "You've come a long way baby!" (from the 1967, Virginia slims commercial. . .no offense meant).

I feel like I have been watching for fun stories but am now seeing nothing but used to see them all the time XD

What is considered decent is so fascinating as the time changes

Right now I see a lot of women's fashion being discussed but I haven't really figured out my own views on it yet

Women's styles reminds me of the Cole Porter line:

In olden days, a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking.
But now, Heaven knows,
Anything goes.

I have one lady at work that I absolutely drive nuts, she will be talking about something and I will pop up with the origin of the word or story or some other such nonsense that I have heard. . .when she asked how I know that, I just tell her my head is full of millions of points of useless information (to most people) and that I can't control when it comes out *chuckles*

XD

My mind went right to "Diamonds are a girls best friends" then scoffed since don't really like diamonds

I have a low amount of quotes ready and waiting mentally I guess *shrug* Laughing

One of my coworkers has such a good memory for like random tasks and details so I asked him how he keeps track of everything. He replied it's all keep in his steel trap of a mind. So, of course, I had to ask if he is a trivia expert. Low and behold he is! But he is limited only to medical device knowledge and nothing else XD

He won't win to many bar trivia nights but jobwise he is in a good field

Mine are not in a steel trap, mine are like boxes stored in the attic, no one is quite sure what is in there, but no one wants to throw it out, just in case it is something important or might be of use sometimes. . .

I feel my mind just keeps tossing out those boxes and mixing up some new deliveries in there too - like peoples names XD

Random newly learned cat "facts"
If cats don't bury their dropping they think they own the house
They lay on you and purr/ vibrate to sped up healing which may actually work?
The don't meow to other cats so listen up when they do
An OO focused meow is to say hi but a EEE focused meow is need

Oh gosh what else did that article say....
