Aww, that stinks. But it's better to be safe. You can always get together at a later time. My family and I had to do that for holidays for my first nursing job. I pretty much worked every holiday, so we just celebrated on a different day. I've been lucky with this job so far, but honestly, if I had to work, we would just celebrate my next day off.

My brother called this morning. The street I live on didn't look too bad, so I thought I was going to go over. However, it took along time for me to get ready, and clear off snow from the car and driveway. By the time I was ready it was noon, and my brother said that he worried it would not be safe. He said he would stop by on Sunday instead. Unfortunately the house is a big mess. Sigh. I guess I will have to do a lot of cleaning this weekend.

I think I'm one of those people that gets rather anxious if people come over and my house is a mess. Hubby used to make fun of me, but now he feels the same way, lol.

If it was a best friend who would just blow off the mess, that is one thing. No sweat. Now a stranger or acquaintance you know would be silently judging you. No, just no, unless things are picture perfect. (My kitchen is a disaster badly in need of a remodel. Soooo ...... nope. ) But my brother is going to have something to say about near everything. And ..... of course he did.  But at least he was not nasty or snide about it. I will have to do more decluttering and tidying later. But that is for later; thank goodness.
UPDATE : December 31st
I plan to get organized in the new year. I have calendars and planner stickers and all that. I will be on top of things and get stuff done. I want to have my house tidy and nice by the end of the year. That is my goal for 2021.

I think I am slowly reaching the "I really couldn't care less what other people think, I have honest to goodness real problems to worry about" stage. But it's just toward certain things. And I'm not sure if that's good thinking or not. *shrugs* It probably depends on the thing in question.
Hubby and I have been working on a deep clean of the entire house. It's slow going, but we're seeing progress. It's still a nice feeling when we fill several boxes of stuff to go to a donation center.
