Well, most of my ideas I've already put in the item suggestion thread. I guess I'll just repeat myself a little, and try to add a few new ones.
1. I would love more hairstyle choices and colors, and eye colors. I realize that due to coding this may be difficult, but I would be very ok with wigs and contacts. That is the only thing that I get kind of frustrated about sometimes when dressing "myself".
2. I think that any appendages like ears, noses, and feet should be in with the tails. Probably even any item that makes us look like an animal or creature too.
3. It would be nice if accessories could be broke down further. Maybe by type and/or area? When I go in there with so many choices my brain melts a little.
That's all I can think of right now.

Riley, it may be a stretch for you to believe this of me (LOL), but I am a rather unconventional Reiki Master. Yes, I took classes. Yes, I was attuned. Yes, I have attuned some people and taught them. But I have never found it necessary to go through all the steps and various hand positions and random "stuff" that you'll probably be taught as part of the practice. I'm ... errm... quite direct... in my approach to Reiki, to energy, to pretty much all of it. It works for me...
I'm thrilled that you're investigating this healing modality! As you go through the classes, by all means, listen and learn from your instructor, but also listen to your own instincts and don't get too caught up in your instructor's ideas of what can or cannot work or how to do things. I have done things that most people -even people in the energy work field- would tell you are impossible (like attuning people I've never physically, personally met... across the continent). Really - it's only impossible if you put those limitations on yourself, and some of these beliefs are taught by society, or inherited through the teachings of others.
Books... yes - Reiki the Ultimate Guide ... by Steve Murray and Self-Healing Reiki ... by Barbara Emerson (my Reiki lineage). These are the two I used during my training and attunement process. I haven't had much need for them since, but they helped at the time.

edit: Rayven, I agree with you on all of those things and have been wanting to implement them. The only thing that hadn't really occurred to me until you mentioned it was to have a separate category for all the "appendages" and "creature" stuff. It's a good idea. We will probably not bother breaking the wardrobe (or the tailor shops) into more "bite sized" pieces right now, but we'll keep it in mind as we start working on the new system. And yes, I would love to have more hairstyles, colors, skintones, etc.

Thank you Queen Blaze. I only thought of it because as I was looking at the tails, I felt it would be nice to not have to go search for ears that would match.
It's nice to talk about Zan development. I can only hope it brings in more people, but even if it doesn't, it will still be nice for us.
Oh, and being chatty isn't such a bad thing.

No, being chatty is not a bad thing at all. I just don't usually talk this much about any of this stuff around here! The Zan stuff... well, I don't want to get your hopes up about something if we're just investigating some ideas. I'd rather wait to mention things until we're more certain of what we're doing and if it's going to work out...
EDIT: Rayven... let's talk this out a little, actually... your tails idea. Tails would really become more "character edit/accessories" and would have tails, ears, feet, hooves, paws, taur body edits, what else?

Hmmm. Well, I would probably also include horns, any mask/hat that makes our characters look like an animal/creature, animal bodysuits (tops and bottoms), claws (hands and feet), and gloves with claws on them.
I would also include contacts and wigs. Personally, I would classify those as a character edit.
This would thin out the other categories, and make choices easier. I generally don't mix creature outfits with pretty outfits. I hope that makes sense. However, I don't know how hard it would be to separate these out. I suspect horns would be easier than some of my other suggestions.

Yes, what you're describing makes sense (either "pretty" or "character"). What would you call this category? Or would you break it up in to subcategories - headgear, body suits, minor edits (like the eyes), etc.? There's a fine line sometimes between being organized and being TOO organized! Hmmm... Ok, what else? Try as I might -and I think I'm fairly good at it- I can't always anticipate what you guys find frustrating or confusing and at this point, I'm probably a little distracted by other things here...
EDIT - I am really enjoying seeing some of the avatars you guys are coming up with the last couple days. We're getting in to the Halloween spirit!

I like the way you described them as "character edits". However, that is a long name. Maybe body parts? This could definitely have subcategories, and they would be useful, but I know what you're saying about being too organized. Whatever you think is best will be fine I'm sure. I tend to be too detail-oriented. Although in this particular subject my intentions were purely about the ease of getting dressed. Technically, wings should probably be in this category too, but I didn't suggest that since wings are so near and dear to all Zan citizen's hearts. Perhaps they do deserve a category all their own. Again, that's up to you. I was super happy when they were moved out of accessories. 
You do a great job. It's impossible for you to think of everything since everybody is different. What bothers one, may not bother another.
I have a few more ideas that may, or may not, be feasible. 
1. It would be super awesome to be able to donate more than one item at a time.
2. I'd like to be able to sell pets in the citizen's market.
3. Perhaps a button in our wardrobes that would pull up anything we have doubles, etc. of. It would make it easier than searching for those items to sell them.
4. A block feature. As you know, I have needed this in the past, and really wished we had one. I wouldn't have had to bother you.
5. It would be nice to be able to sell items in the citizen's market longer, or be able to relist them when they've expired with the click of a button.
6. A "Forge All" button for each kind of metal. That way we could be lazy and not forge them one by one if we chose.
I'm out of ideas again. These are just suggestions, I don't find all of these things annoying. LOL

Answers... or at least commentary:
1. Donating multiple items at a time was something we had. We removed it because our item database is quite large and our technology is old (and, I think, at the time, our hosting was slow... or something)! It is something we'd like to bring back, if at all possible.
2. Yeah, I'm not sure I remember why that's not possible...
3. Searching by the number of a particular item you have. Remind me of this later, please. Zukyun and I were just talking earlier today about wardrobe organization and searching features and giving you guys additional tags and tools to better find things.
4. Yes. This is a given and something that we'll try to include. For the record (again) - you didn't bother me and really, I should probably know if somebody's causing an issue in the forums or with other people...
5. Ok. This is worthy of consideration.
6. Forging... is probably going to go away. At least in the short term.
But again, all this^^ is speculation and more on the "dreaming" side of things right now than the "realistic" side of things... but good things for me -us- to keep in mind as we explore the options and hopefully start building the technology up.
 ZAN MUSINGS GAME: Guess how many items we have in our system. Go ahead... try to ballpark it: clothing, pets, "stuff"... If you get close to the real number of current items, I'll give you a prize!

Welcome to Zan Musings!
Zan Musings was originally begun on August 7, 2007 for the Day of the Dead celebrations. Since then, it has been deleted twice (losing better than 1,700 pages). Still, it perseveres. It has seen good citizens leave and new players come in, it has witnessed drama and excitement and played host to games and contests, and to some rather corny jokes in its time. Many good things have happened here.
Musings is, and always has been, open to everyone provided that a certain level of respect for each other is maintained at all times; I, or the regulars here, will not abide by rudeness or spam or anything that breaks the Rules of Zantarni or ignores basic common courtesy.
The primary theme to Musings is to discuss the daily goings-on in and around the realm; events and their details, glitches and fixes, new features added, details of how to accomplish certain tasks and other things of that nature. The conversation in this thread is often rather varied; It can be silly or intense, or anything in between. The pages can also fly by sometimes, and some posts may get overlooked... if this happens, don't take it personally - just jump in to the conversation!
The regular posters of Musings are also varied and include well-established citizens as well as those who recently found Zantarni... and many of us tend to pop in and out of the conversation randomly - especially since many of the regular posters are Knights. The atmosphere here is pretty laid-back though, and as mentioned before, all are welcome.
Daily (or regular) updates are posted in the first post of the thread (here), along with a wide assortment of information and links associated with the site and recent updates and additions beneath these daily updates. If the Hunger bar is fully green your pet is full and does not need to be fed, otherwise he is hungry and clicks will count for less than the whole value. To feed him, click the button and a list of the food in your inventory will be displayed below the button. You must click on one of those items to actually feed the pet.

(NOTE: Your pet will eat even if he isnt hungry. Feeding him when he is full will gain you nothing extra but will take the food item out of your inventory.)
New Growth Rate - Now your eggs growth depends on the Number of "Unique Visits" (People who have never clicked your egg before), "Return Visits" (People Who have clicked your egg before), and the Pet "Hunger".
(Note: The egg will only count the first visit in each 24 hour period from each user.)
This part seems to be complicated for many people and I will try to explain it.
The Pets Hunger Bar is similar to Energy and the most growth can be accomplished when they are full. I will go into greater detail on Hunger in a minute, but you need to understand this before I continue.
The Max growth for a New Visit is 1.0
The Max growth for a Return Visit is 0.1
So lets say on Day1 UserA, UserB, & Userc visit your pet:
UserA's visit will make your pet grow 1.0
UserB's visit will make your pet grow 1.0 giving him a total of 2.0
UserC's visit will make your pet grow 1.0 giving him a total of 3.0
On Day2 UserA, UserB & UserD visit your pet:
UserA is a return visit and will only grow your pet 0.1 for a total of 3.1
UserB is a return visit and will only grow your pet 0.1 for a total of 3.2
UserD is a new visit and will therefore frow your pet 1.0 for a total of 4.2
UserD visits again on the same day which does not grow your pet at all.
Now those values only work if your pet is full. If your pet is hungry the amount of each visit is reduced.
Say your Pet was only 75% full on Day1:
Then UserA's visit would make your pet grow 0.75
UserB's visit would make your pet grow 0.75
UserC's visit would make your pet grow 0.75
And if he was only 75% full on Day2:
UserA's visit would make your pet grow 0.075
UserB's visit would make your pet grow 0.075
UserD's visit would make your pet grow 0.75
UserD's second visit would not grow him any more
It gets more complicated but that is the basics behind the feeding system.
The Older the Pet, the Less the Need to Eat - A growing pet needs more energy to grow. Your pet will
start off 100% full and will grow hungrier as time passes. At the Baby stage his energy will be depleted completely in
approximately 1 day. At the Mature stage the energy will be completely depleted over a period of approximately 3 days.
(Note: This is the best I could get from Lord Alex. More research will have to be done to determine this in a more exact fashion.)
A Zan hatchery is in the works - Lord Alex has given no official information on this yet, but he has said to stay tuned and that it is in the works.
Well, I think that about covers everything on the new pet system. If you have any more questions please feel free to post your questions and I'll try to answer them or clarify something if you don't understand what I said.
(Note: Visits are tracked by IP so if your IP changes the visit rules don't really affect you since your are considered a New User each time your IP changes.) |

Thanks for the information and encouragement, Queen Blaze! I'm definitely excited to start the classes!
Items....that could include event currency items, and unwearable items....and looking in the Fitting Room, there are some items that have two images to denote a male and female only item. Hmmm....I will guess 8,800.
