I'm trying to put together a newbie guide for Edingtol's Gates, and I was wondering if anyone had any input on some questions Riley raised in the [Zan Projects] thread. I plan on asking newbies some questions too, but anything you guys might want to add would also be great. My current guide is here.

I want to know what the point is. Are we dressing up avatars? Cool,i guess that should be obvious when you join, you make your character. Now what? You have to get clothes so you will need currency...Ways to make zg is what i would want to know next, like a guide to posting, mining, fishing,etc. I mean, its pretty straightforward imo, but it would be nice to start off not confused.

Usually the navigation.How do i get to everything? Or if they have like a complicated battle/energy system or something. I went back to a site the other day that i hadn't been on in a while and they had all these skills and leveling up stuff and equipment...it took me a while to figure out what was going on again, and sometimes i just don't have the patience for that....
So that's why i like zan, it is easy for me to use.

Usually the easiest thing about a site like this is the forums. Forums are all a lot alike and usually pretty easy to navigate. That way, it becomes easier to ask for help and get advice from other players. It is also easy to use the forums to find out how active the site is! lol

Where the most active area is for posting and meeting people. How to get clothing and items, and how to get the special items.
What do you find most frustrating about joining a new site?
The organization! Most sites have different layouts and it's different and difficult to learn! And the fact that it's difficult for new people to jump into conversations.
What is the easiest about joining a new site?
Hmm. The easiest thing to do seems to be introducing yourself. After that though it's a little hard to keep posting.

Thanks so much for the responses guys!  They're super helpful and I'll definitely take your responses into account when I start editing my guide! You've given me a lot of good input and I can't wait to start developing this guide!

Here are some of my thoughts:
When joining a new site, what information do you immediately want to know?
In no particular order:
- I would want to know the rules of the site
- What is the site currency? And how do I get it?
- What kind of posts belong in each forum
- Who the admins are
- Any reference posts available, such as the Zan Dex, Price Guide, etc.
- This one might just be weird, but I would like to know the site culture. I came from Gaia, which is very different from Zantarni. I lurked for a little while, reading people's posts to get an idea
What do you find most frustrating about joining a new site?
- Expensive items but not being able to earn a lot of currency, to the point where your goals seem unobtainable
- Not knowing where to find things
What is the easiest about joining a new site?
- Making an introduction post
- Posting in general, when the initial shyness wears off =)

When joining a new site, what information do you immediately want to know?- I want to know that the site administrators are active, present, and friendly.
- Since the avi systems are what draw me to a site initially, I want to know where I can see and try on all items available on the site. And I want to know where the items originated. ie, limited events, currency shop, or cash shop.
- I want to know all the ways to earn site currency.
- I want to know where my inventory and wardrobe is located.
- Its also so helpful to know right away where to find all of your own posts or response notifications. There's nothing worse than starting a conversation and then losing your way back to it or forgetting it altogether.
What do you find most frustrating about joining a new site?
- Finding a way to dive into chats without a huge initial commitment to serious conversation, lol. I'm usually pretty shy about posting.
- I dislike it when site currency is nearly impossible to earn within a reasonable amount of time. If I spend two days browsing around a new site and I'm still naked at the end of that time due to the inability to earn a reasonable amount of currency or items, then I find it hard to go back. The exception to this is if I can see that, although it will take some time, it is possible to make progress over a foreseen amount of time (ie. a couple of months, etc.) without having to spend every waking minute online.
- There's nothing more frustrating as a new person than to find out that you've accidentally ate or used a rare item or an item necessary for a future quest which is impossible to obtain later. I don't know the solution to this but its usually what causes me to be slow in diving into the community or actiivities. I end up spending tons of time combing through guides and forums instead.
What is the easiest about joining a new site? - Joining sites during holiday events are the easiest because people are more active and the event usually helps someone like me become familiar with the site more quickly. The holiday quest event and caroling activity for Zantarni was incredibly helpful to me during my first day here. <3
