Than logging on everyday to see if there is anything new on MP/AH just to find it empty or full of things you have. Siiiigh
Second thought.. ok there are two things worse than that...
1: Logging on and not having money to BUY the items that are new or special... Haha....
and
2: Logging on on the first of the month excitedly to see the new Gem items.... Only to find they are not something you would ever consider buying. This one has been happening to be monthly for like a year... another long siiiiiigh.
Wait... There is a 3rd worse thing... To be so board waiting for something to happen that you actually skip a few weeks just to find out that an event or soemthing happened during your hiatus.... And now you must wait or pay BIG $$$ zgs to get the items. -_-

I agree completely with this statement 100%. Items this past year have been way too simplistic. They need complex designs. Don't get me wrong, the artist who pixeled it did them amazing, but they're just not "DI" material in my opinion.
This site is supposed to be a role-playing community forum as stated in every month's banner but it's not. Having a role-playing section on the forums does not deem this site as "role-playing".
Let's just pick through my head for a bit on this month. Egyptian was chosen. But the items picked for this month just doesn't seem complex enough to be deemed DI's. Since there's always 3 sets, I would have based it on 3 random God/Goddesses of Egyptian history.
Bastet - Do a female outfit with gold-bead braided headdress with cat ears in their traditional dress and an athame.
Ra - Do a male outfit with a falcon headdress, somehow representing the sun symbol into the outfit, with their traditional pants and a spear.
Horus - Do a male outfit with a falcon headdress with a pschent, their traditional shorts and a khopesh.
Additional addons need to be the Egyptian jewelry such as the gold armbands, golden bangles, etc.

The introduction to these DI's.... Don't mention Rome, Greece, Mediterranean Sea, Ancient Egypt, etc. This site claims to have their own map. Their own world.... Let's spice it up a bit, shall we?
Quote: |
.....Long ago, in ancient Edingtol, there was a civilazation long forgotten who called themselves Egyptian. These people looked up to beings they considered as gods and goddesses; Bastet, Ra and Horus, were among many that we've discovered.
.....Bastet was their goddess of cats, protection, joy, dance, music, and love. She was symbolized with cats and was represented as a woman with a cats head.
.....Ra was their god of the sun. He had the head of a falcon with a sun-disk resting on his head.
.....Horus was their god of the sky and kingship. He had the head of a falcon wearing the pschent.

Our archeologist team have recently discovered a chest hidden deep underground here in Edingtol! Inside this remarkable chest, we've discovered a limited supply of outfits representing these three dieties and we are offering them to the public for the month.
Stop by the Gem Shop on your way to the DI Shop and obtain a set of these rare, unique (and quite AMAZING) items! |
Complete rough draft... If I actually worked on it, I probably could have been more detailed and indepth story.
Also, the entire "support the realm" needs to be tossed out in my opinion. It just seems all beggar-ish to me. _________________

Fev!! OMG! I would LOOOOOVE these items! Uhg... Your ideas are so good i wish that they could be implemented. I really agree with you too that alot of the DI's while are well pixilated are no more specail than the randome items updated in the shops... Honestly. They did a few di's and then released shop items that were just a different color. I am not happy with this at all.
I LOVE zan and i wont ever leave but it makes me hella sad because it seems like a dying hobby at this point.

Oh, I have all sorts of ideas.
Another idea is that Blazestorm and Zukyun can include themselves on one. One month, they can announce a royal engagement, talk about the services, the 'I do's, decorations, the guests from far away lands, etc. in the announcement. Invite the people of Edingtol.
DI #1: female version: wedding dress, veil, accessories, slippers, henna, bouquet.
male version: tuxedo, boutonniere, bow-tie (maybe even give a neck-tie for another option), dress shoes.
DI #2: groomsman/braids maid outfits with accessories
DI #3: wedding backgrounds; chapel, pews, table of food (feast), etc. _________________

I've said it once and I'll say it again but most of the people who complain about nothing happening are the people who do nothing.
Of course Zanny doesn't have a lot going on when most of the people only log on, not post, then log off if they even bother to do that.
Believe it or not there are people on but it gets less and less when no one bothers to find those people. If you want something to happen make it happen. Post or draw designs you would like to be seen.
As for the DI's well it would be nice to pick up the pace but they are putting out quite a bit considering there are more items being put out than people logging on to buy them. _________________ Moon's Youtube//Blog

Of course i dont agree since i have loads of posts on here and i try to reply to every topic. I think its totally unfair to try to blame the people who log on to find the SAME threads trending that they commented on weeks before. I do take the slight personally because i am the one "complaining" about it. Therefore the comment was obviously directed at me and people "like me" who log on periodically. -_- totally unrealistic. You can look back through hundreds of topics and see that i have commented. I have also tried to make fun threads with contests and other things. I donate and try to get 'newbies" interested. So again thats not the case. Its the long term people not staying on copious amounts of time each day to try to keep the site alive and thriving. Its the lack of people being drawn into MP sites in general. Gaia seems to be doing exceptionally well. Not that i like to compare sites since they are all unique and wonderful in their own way. I just think that it unfair to say you will get as much effort as you put in, when clearly thats not the case.

I think you are over estimating your impact. You are not in the top 50 posters. You have less posts than people who don't log in for years.
And of COURSE the same threads are trending as the week before, people are talking in them. Heck their going to be trending every day because I can tell you which threads are going to stay trending every day based on the fact I know who logs in and posts EVERY DAY and where they post.
You are not one of them. I'll tell you who makes a difference. It is people like Keres Corvax who posted enough in a year to go from not being in the top 50 posters to being number 9.
As for posing in hundreds of topics; good start but where are you going with it? How often do you go back to those thread?
Heads up Gaia isn't doing that well. Ya they have people paying money but the average people online is 10-20 thousand, nothing to turn your nose at, but it is no where near their high of 532,396.
Finally, never said you would get what you put in. What it comes down to is no one is getting anywhere at this rate.
Just a little edit: I would like to point out it has been 4-5 months between your posts in this thread. _________________ Moon's Youtube//Blog

I also believe it is the input of the community.
The staff does not have ESP so we can create thread upon thread expressing our discomfort about the lack of activity, but I barely see any new threads about ideas on how to change that. Or ideas on how to improve the site in general.
We should spend less time complaining about why members don't log in, or no good DI's for months, or the marketplace selling "junk" items, and more time on threads which talk about our visions, I bet members will show up more and stay.
This won't happen in a short time either, it will take effort on both the members and staff.
I also want to point out I am just to blame as the next person. I have not been online in a very long time, but I have my reasons. However, when I did come back I had a chat with Boo about the site in my shoppe and I started making a list(not submitted yet) of ideas I have. _________________

To add to Moon and Ivy, while there is nothing wrong with the same threads trending because people keep posting in them, nothing is stopping anyone from making new threads.
Edit: Also to add before this goes any further, I don't want it to seem like everyone is ganging up on or blaming you, Irish. While people have agreed with your topic, there are those of us who simply don't agree, and just expressing why we don't agree.

Totally wasn't paying attention to the posts other than the main one Irish made...
If my post came off as an attack I do apologize. I was only trying to get more involved in other threads since my hiatus ended. I spend more than enough time in my home in the marketplace I figured I'd start branching out to other areas of the Realm. _________________
