It was almost two weeks before the entire island had power back... you can just imagine how messed up it was for half a million people [roughly] to be without power for that long. Pretty much every time they'd manage to get it up it'd go again from people scrambling to use as much power as possible as soon as possible... there were fires at the power stations so that was extra fun.

Oh wow!  That does sound awful. My dad has a generator so it helps some. Eventually he'd like to get one that would run the whole house.
Do you have a generator? I'm sure you could use one with all of the bad weather you get.

Don't have the money to get one but we have a butane camping stove that we can cook outside with if the power goes so that's something at least. I'm planning on picking up an old fashioned metal kettle to use on it just in case. Mama needs her tea and coffee.

Cool. Hey, Mikuhiko, I wanted to let you know I'm not ignoring you with this... just trying to figure out how best to help you get started. I think the best thing to do is to take a look at some of our current items and maybe try editing them. You can use our "underwear-wearing" avatars as a start; I can get you "nekkid" ones once I re-locate the files, if you'd like. Whatever you do, please keep me in the loop! I'd love to see what you come up with  
Sometimes, I do miss the snow - mostly the serenity that comes during and after a good snowfall. I still do not miss the shoveling or the slush or ice or any of that, though...

Miku-Those stoves are handy. I don't blame you. I started drinking coffee much later than most people, but now I don't know what I'd do without it. I did get a little annoyed with myself for picking up another vice. I needed a new vice like I need another hole in my head. 
Shoveling, etc. is definitely not fun. We rarely get enough snow here to warrant shoveling, but we're not picky people either. I've seen plenty of people doing it when we don't. As long as I can get my car out of the driveway I'm good, it'll melt eventually.

I'll definitely keep you in the loop with whatever I do Blaze! I dare say once I get started I'll probably start up a little gallery thread here to show you guys what I make. I can't guarantee quality off the hop because I'm a bit rusty and I only have a mouse to use right now. But I shall try my best! If I don't get a chance to try some stuff before I go away for the holidays I'll definitely pick it up after.
I love snow, I honestly don't mind shovelling but I've been doing that since I was small so I think I'm just used to it by now.
I love coffee, quite a lot honestly. I have a very high tolerance for caffeine though and have since I was small so it would take a lot to make me at all jittery. I'm honestly thankful for that though, lol. We got ours on sale during the summer, definitely a good buy.

Good - I'm looking forward to whatever you come up with! And yeah, I understand about the mouse-only thing (it's how I do any pixel work here)! Although with drawing with a pen or stylus, you get some dithering which can be a problem - it adds more colors and gradations to the finished item, which can then warp the color palette and create some "interesting" results when combined with other items (we've had a couple issues with that here in the past)

Oh wow you do really amazing work for just a mouse! I'm excited to see what else comes out here all the time honestly. ^^ I'll try and make some time to doodle up something but I go away for the holidays.

I usually manage to break the shovel.  I think I try to pile too much on there.
Last year there was ice underneath the snow which made it hard to clean off concrete. :/

That's part of why I tend to have metal shovels vs plastic, much more durable when it comes to ice under the snow thankfully.
She's extremely excited but keeps asking what'll happen if he forgets that we are going away for the holidays. I've had to explain 10 times in about a week and a half that he's 'magic' so he'll find us. lol

Aaaah, well I leave the real pixel stuff to the real pixelists - I do some edits and recolors, but I do too many other things (here and iRL) to devote time really learning how to fully pixel from scratch. Zaphkiel and Kendi64 are Zantarni's pixelists these days
Definitely keep me in the loop with whatever you come up with, Mikuhiko ... whenever that is (this is a weird time of year for most people) If you're going away for the holiday but want to try your hand, maybe think more in terms of Valentines/Eidyllion...?

I might do a generalized winter theme to keep it simple honestly. I don't really like basing too much around holidays in pixel work on clothing since you're somewhat limited in what hasn't already been done. ^^; I will have a look at the items from those past events n whatnot to get a feeling though.
You guys all do really great work though, I've really liked a lot of the stuff that's been coming out the past few years.

Awww. I can imagine I would have been afraid of that if we ever left for the holidays. My family always stayed home though. Maybe she'll finally believe you on Christmas morning.
