Chewing thoughtfully, Zephyr eyed his sister through the rest of the meal. His mind was trying to come up with different scenarios and how he should react should they become reality, but it was hard to know what was going to happen, really. He'd never been into the forest, so he didn't know what sort of creatures were out there. He didn't know why the place was so feared. That was something that they'd have to find out when they got there.
For now, all he could really do was hope and be prepared. That was easy enough. That did include some worry as well which was harder to deal with, but he tried to ignore it and focus on his food. He needed to make sure he ate plenty so that he'd be adequately nourished which would help him focus.
Once he'd finished it all, he left the table silently to head back upstairs to his bathroom. A good splash of water over his face and a quick wash-up would help him wake up a bit, he figured. And he figured correctly. Once that was done, he collected a few things from his room that he thought might come in handy--a knife, a flashlight--and threw them into a backpack. They would probably pack a lunch too, so the backpack would get plenty of use.
On his way out, he slipped into his bomber jacket and grabbed his sword. Hopping quickly down the stairs again, he set the backpack on the couch before returning to the table finally to help Phoenix with the dishes.

Phoenix sat there alone for a few seconds, thinking about the journey they were about to take. She was so excited, yet... a little scared. She'd never been into the forest... well, she was close to walking into it when she was very little, but the village people had stopped her from walking into the forest. That was a long time ago. She was wiser now though, more advanced than she was long ago.
Phoenix finally got up, taking the dirty dishes and setting them in the sink. She started washing them, then only moments later, Zephyr came to help her. They both finished the dishes a few minutes later.
"Let me pack up somethings." Phoenix said to Zephyr before heading upstairs to her room. She started for her room. In her room, she found a backpack used for camping that her and her brother had done with some of the villagers. Inside was a tent, a compass, some sleeping bags, and some food and water. How she could fit it inside this small backpack was a mystery to her. She found her sword, a light and quick blade, and scheethed it, the scheeth strapped onto her belt. She wrapped her muffler around her before she left her room. Phoenx went into the kitchen, where they could find the entrance to their house. "Ready?" She asked her brother before opening the door.

Wiping his hands on a towel, Zephyr just nodded in reply to her. After watching her retreat up the steps, he sauntered towards the door. Hands on his hips, he surveyed the room in search of anything they should do before they left. Maybe he was just being paranoid, but they didn't really know when they'd get back. Even if they didn't get seriously injured or killed or something, they might have some other trouble. The people of the village didn't fear things for no reason at all. There was something to worry about in there, though they didn't really know what. He'd heard people with numerous stories about monsters and goblins and whatnot, but nothing was ever consistent. There had been a time when he thought that it was all a hoax. Now that they were actually going in there, he was deciding that they were better safe than sorry.
Slowly taking his backpack, he set it on his back. "Mmhmm, sure." He nodded at her, taking one last sweep of the house before slipping out the door.
The sun felt nice and warm, but it didn't quite settle his nerves. It did help him relax a bit though. That was good; if he was going to keep a clear head, then he was going to have to settle down and stop worrying so much. Maybe it really was all a hoax, or maybe it wasn't anything deadly. They had been sparring since they were little kids, and the two of them were known as being two of the best swordsmen in Kokoro. Maybe if there really was something out there, they could defeat it.
Now that would be the adventure they were looking for...

Phoenix skipped to her brother's side. She was very excited, yet very scared. She looked back at the silent village. She was sad for leaving everyone here, but for a better life, this was the only way. Their cottage was ontop of a small hill, on the outskirts of the village. Phoenix turned back, looking at the village, like she was saying good-bye to it. For a while she just stood there, then she turned back around, and caught up with her brother.
First they would have to travel through some prarie, then they'll get to the forest. Right now they were in grass as tall as to their waists. It was very cold, because the morning dew was still on the stalks of grass. Phoenix could see her very breath as she walked, so she tightened her muffler around her mouth. Phoenix walked a little bit closer to Zephyr, thinking that they could share body warmth. It was cold outside, despite the warm sun shining. It was pretty cold in Kokoro, especially during the winter.
"After we get into the forest, we can't turn back," Phoenix said to Zephyr, grinning. "Well... not untill we know there's nothing there." She added.

Folding his arms close to his chest in attempt for warmth, Zephyr's face clearly displayed the fact that he was deep in thought. He had finally decided that he was overreacting and that he needed to relax a little, but now he was thinking about what would happen out there in the positive light. Of course, he didn't know what to expect, but that was exactly why it occupied his mind so fully. The main thing that he kept coming back to was a simple question; would they really find what they were looking for out there? Even if it didn't end badly, would they even get an adventure?
He sure hoped so. With all the build-up, it would be a real let down if they ended up getting out there and finding nothing. At first, he hadn't thought about that.
Maybe he just thought too much though. Phoenix didn't look the least bit worried or antsy like he felt. He was a thinker and analyzed everything very closely, but he had trouble just relaxing. That would have to stop.
"Yeah..." Zephyr simply nodded, managing to break out a smile for her. Hearing her voice was somehow calming, and just the thought of the whole journey was slowly starting to grow on him. He just needed to take a tip from his sister and stop freaking out.

{{~*Blah, sorry he's such a worry-wart. xD Hopefully I can find something else to blabber about here soon.*~}}

((Tee-hee^^
It's alright :D))

Phoenix grinned, and looked ahead. She could see the forest clearly... it was only a few yards away. Phoenix put a hand on the hilt of her sword. She felt comfort from doing that, knowing that she was armed and ready, and not afraid. Phoenix took a glimsp of her brother. She could tell he was thinking about something, but her brother showed no emotion. She knew what he was thinking about, even if he wasn't showing it. That's how well they stuck together, how well they were siblings. Phoenix looked back in front of her.
"Don't worry," She stated simply to her brohter, "We'll be fine if we stay together." She said, walking a rather fast walk. She walked fast for someone like her size. "I promise." She added, looking up at her brother and taking his hand.
She looked back in front of her. A little bit farther now... and they would be in front of the forest.

Tilting his head a little so that he could look at her more directly, Zephyr nodded slightly. After a short moment of that, he cracked a little smile. "Mmhmm, probably..." He sighed softly. She was probably right. She usually was, anyway. All of his worrying was probably just from those stupid dreams of his. She had dreams of adventure just like him, but she hadn't mentioned the villains that he'd seen. Maybe she had seen them and just not bothered to mention it, but if that was so, then she at least wasn't letting it effect her. It was far more mature and professional to do it that way anyway.
Swatting at a stray bug floating in his face, Zephyr tried to keep his eyes up at the trees. It helped to motivate him a bit. Plus, even if he did feel confident that they could handle this now that he'd thought about it, it was still a good idea to stay alert and pay attention. If anything, he didn't want something simple to catch him by surprise and make him look like an idiot.

Phoenix looked at the forest. They were a few feet away from it now. She stopped dead in her tracks, looking up at the tall stalks of the trees, at the branches, everything... She didn't notice she was still holding onto Zephyr's hand.
She was a little... scared. She had dreams of this, but this wasn't a dream now. This was real. There were things in there, things that would scare her, things that would make her happy, things that would surprise her... She was thinking about these emotions, she didn't even notice that she was staring into the forest and her mouth was ajar like an idiot. Monsters... animals... maybe even another human race... it was all going to be in there. Probably, anyways. Right now she was staring into space, not knowing what to think now, scared to take the first few steps into the forest. She held onto her brothers hand tightly, not wanting to let it go, afraid that if she did, she would be taken away from him.

Zephyr stopped along with his sister, though he hardly even realized that they had stopped. His hazel, calculating eyes scanned the trees slowly, thoughts flying around in his head. The worries came back, but also that amazing feeling that would well up inside of him every time he had one of those dreams. It was all hitting him again, all at once, and yet, he somehow felt extremely calm. They would be alright, and no matter what happened, they were going to get what they wanted.
"Ready...?" He asked after a pause. Turning to her with a soft smile, his eyes again went back to calculating. She looked excited for this, but there was a little bit of something in her that was nervous. Now, maybe she wasn't worrying exactly, but she had stopped here, after all.
"Are you trying to squeeze my hand to death?" He snorted with a glimmer of a cheeky grin as he gave her hand a quick squeeze back. It didn't hurt or bother him at all, he just felt like they needed to lighten the mood a bit. And that was something that he didn't do often.

Phoenix came back to Earth. She closed her mouth, and chuckled at her brother's comment. She lightened her grip on Zephyr's hand.
"Yeah, let's go!" She said excitedly. She started marching into the forest. This was it. The forest looked dark inside, probably because it was a huge rain forest and the canopy was thick. She could feel the humidity hit her a couple feet away from the forest. It felt nice at first, but then she was beginning to soak in all the water and she started to feel wet all over. When she her first few steps inside the forest, she was rapped even more into the humidity. Plus, it was pretty warm in there.
They weren't walking in tall, thick grass anymore. they were walking on short green grass, with small patches of flowers and wildlife here and there. Sometimes she didn't know what to think of the wildlife, because she'd never seen them before. But it was exilerating to be in that forest. Her nerves were gone, now replaced with courage.
Phoenix was a few steps into the forest, looking about the forest floor. She heard a lot of bird calls, ones she didn't recognize, very few she did recognize. These were the first few steps into the rain forest.

With another smile, Zephyr mirrored her steps forward into the shorter grass. At first, the air under the trees was a little stifling. He was so used to being out in the open where trees were never really in clumps like this, and in here, there were only a few places in the canopy where the light shone through.
After a few moments though, he got used to it. He'd have to anyone if the whole place was like this. A slight breeze was blowing in behind them which helped a good bit.
His palm was starting to feel sweaty against hers, but he didn't let go anyway. It made him feel better to hold her like that. It calmed him a bit and it helped him remember that they were going to be fine.
"So... what do you think we'll find out here?" he finally asked, keeping his voice low since it was so quiet. Obviously, neither of them really knew what would be out here, but it was some sort of attempt at conversation. And, again, the more they talked, the more he relaxed. It made the mood feel more casual.

((Sorry for the wait^^;))

Phoenix shrugged. "I'm not sure," She said, putting a finger on her chin, which usually meant she was thinking, "I was hoping we would find something that would help us get off this planet." She nodded, letting her hand drop to her side. By now they were far away from the prarie, far from the exit out of the rainforest. It was hot, and humid in the forest, yet there was a wind gently blowing against them, which helped them to go on. Well, it certainly helped her anyways. Phoenix took off her muffler using the one hand she had left, and hung it neatly folded from her shoulder.
Phoenix had stumbled multiple times on stray roots in their path way, but recovered quickly. She was looking around curiously at all the plants. She had seen many of them back at the village. She even saw some healing herbs along the way. "Hold on, can I pick some of these? Their supposed to help heal wounds and cure some illnesses." Phoenix said, stopping and pointing to the herbs she was talking about. She looked at her brother and smiled. "Pretty please?" She added with her famous puppy dog face. No one at the village could resist it, but she had a feeling that her brother would be immune to it. He'd seen it so many times anyways.

{{~*That's oke! ^^ I do that too sometimes...*~}}

Taking in a deep breath of the thick air, Zephyr nodded slowly. "Yeah..." He breathed softly, mulling over it for a moment. Getting out of there did sound like the best way to have an adventure, but it was still a rather large leap to take. Of course, there was no guarantee that they'd actually find a way off in here, but it was still her evident goal.
Her mention of the herbs reminded him of his previous worries, but he tried not to let them fully occupy his mind like before. Following her pointing with his eyes, Zephyr tilted his head to the side slightly before turning his gaze back to her. The reason was good enough for him to say yes, but he waited for her to get through the whole process of begging. It was more fun that way. He even didn't reply right away, looking like he had to really think about it after her puppy face.
"Well..." He bit his lip slightly as he prolonged the decision. However, he couldn't hold back a smile for too long. "Okaay..." He prolonged the word as if he was reluctant, but his grin betrayed the joke.

A wide smile spread across Phoenix's face. "Yay!" She said happily, going to the herbs. She started to harvest them, putting them carefully into a pocket of her backpack. There were a ton of them, and she guessed they were to need a lot of them, so she kept picking and harvesting the strange herb. It was a very rare herb. With every stalk she picked she gained more happieness. She loved picking flowers and herbs. The old lady next door taught her how.
Soon, she was done picking the herb. "Done!" She said, putting the rest of the herbs into her backpack. She zipped her backpack up, and put it back onto her shoulders. "Alright, let's go!" She said happily, grabbing onto Zephyr's hand and started walking again. She knew he was faking about the desicion to pick the herbs or not to. It made her more happy, seeing that her brother was back from his trip into worryville. It was soothing when he wasn't worrying.

{{~*Pff whoops, BBCoding fail. xD;*~}}

Folding his arms over his chest as he waited, Zephyr watched his sister closely. Doing this would help him to rest easy a little more. Now he at least knew that if one of them got hurt, they would have some medicine. He didn't know how they were supposed to use it, but they could probably figure it out...
"Okay..." Zephyr sighed gently, taking her hand back in his gladly. That done, he really felt like they were ready for this. Sure, they would be leaving behind their friends in Kokoro, but they would probably understand. Phoenix and Zephyr were young, and the village was rather sleepy and slow. If they just disappeared, Zephyr figured that none of them would even be surprised.
With the back of his free hand, Zephyr wiped the sweat out of his eyes. The sweat sort of felt good, though. It reminded him of sparring, which was one of the most exciting, fun things to do in Kokoro. The heaviness of the air under the trees was uncomfortable, but the sweat helped to even it out. Plus, the wetness picked up coolness from the breeze more.
