Final Goodbye
Ducky did it, the Templars tried it, but Moon wants to take it a step further. A fundamental dream of most users are the coveted Yorick Day Wings. Now is the chance to prove they belong to you by being an active member of the community.
This may be a contest but most importantly it is about bringing the community into a new level of engagement. The loving, generous nature of Zantarni has not changed, even with my many years here, but our ability to interact has seemingly faded as unimportant. The feeling of home that we gain from being here is too good to let go.
Let us bring it back together.
Fundamentally this thread is a chance to connect again wile gaining riches.
This contest has no time line. You, the users, and your commitment shows when the time comes.
3 thousand pages, when this thread reaches that many posts, the contest will end.
Many may be stuttering at the prospect but I know, absolutely know, that we are capable. I have seen pages fly by with excited chatter, even on this site which can be considered small. There is no small conversation, no small friendship here.
Let us talk about:
Announcements (New Topics) are always titled as such so control find is enough to find them and they are posted in red for the header and my green post color is removed. The current topic will be in the title. Past topics will be in the third post.
There are two stages to entering. First we want to see that you will stay on the site. We love newer users but this is about really reaching the community. For such a wanted and rare item I have to make sure it goes to the best user, the most committed. The qualifications show that you are willing to stay on the site. The second part of entering is all about posting. Your previous posts do not count in my eyes. They do not exist, this is all about what you will do from this point on.
Qualifications for entering:
You must have been a user for 1 year with 300 posts.
You have to have made 3 threads.

Important threads:
Zan Musings- This thread may be the most important thread on the site. Not only does it have a great amount of information and helpful links but it has a plethora of history as well. Not only did it recover from deletion from hacking, twice, in '07 but it is where our Queen has helped many individuals.
RAMS: A Charity of Apples- Apples weren't always a trip to the food shop away. Once apples had to be collected, tediously, around the forums.
HSTF- This may be the most influence thread for community. Many newer members felt welcomed by this thread. This is the one thread on this list you won't need to post in but it will remain on the list. Why? Because it made me want to create FOTY. Back then, not that it was long ago, it started the whole idea. A rich(ish) Ducky getting Yoricks as a page prize for a huge marker in his thread. The idea tumbled from there. (Sorry but this thread is no longer around. Remember it though.)
The Shugga Shack- Shugga has been a growing member of Zantarni for some time now. This thread is wonderfully active and her charity is inspirational, a thread that truly encompasses the mission.
Talk Talk- Umaeril has provided a place for introductions and very cute contests for getting to know other members.
-LOL Cat's Hangout-- Cats and funny pictures, need I say more?
The Dragon's Inn: A Place of Old Dusty Wonder- This is the oldest thread still run by the original creator.
The Lurkers Lair: Please Post Quietly- Maybe if we crash the party they will scatter and help other threads. (But Please don't anger the lurkers.)
Peekaboo: Who do you See?- A thread about who is always there, perfect, we know who to hassle about posting. I kid!
Peekaboo was a thread that I wanted to see a comeback for, even made a declaration to make it so, but I can't do so alone. Now you get to help me.

Alright I have another little activity for you. This one won't be for cash prizes but I think it is a good thing seeing as we will get to know our users a little better.
The internet has a lot too it and zanny members are not just here but else where on the internet too.
So what I would like to know is do any zanny members have any blogs or websites? What are they deticated too? Is it because your a fan of something or for showing skills?
I myself have an art blog dedicated to ink drawings as well as making stuffed animals. A link can be found in my sig.
Another close friend of mine, who was once a recognized member of zantarni gave me this idea to ask about zany members and their websites do to his new video blog for showing his progress in learning the guitar.

The problem is that people don't appreciate education and culture anymore. Anything that takes serious education to understand, appreciate, or know about is considered high brow, elitist, and stuffy.
There's also the problem is a severe lack of education for knowledge's sake. It used to mean a great deal of good things if you could discuss politics, philosophy, art, and history, and how they all interrelated. Having that kind of knowledge meant you were from a good family, or could easily enter a higher social status. It was a good thing to know these things, simply because a good education, and appreciating knowledge, was highly valued.
But now? If you major in any of those things, or enjoy any of those things at all, and you're a hobo or a barista. We don't educate anymore for the sake of learning, knowledge, and improving the world. We educate to get test scores, funding, and dead-end mid-rage jobs. The people who love learning and knowledge and thinking rebel against these kinds of jobs, and usually end up even worse off.
Our social classes have reversed. Professors are actually paid very little, unless they're at a big name school on the tenure track(A thing most schools are doing away with). I think I read a statistic a while ago that said most people with PH.D's are actually near the poverty level of earnings. People who choose to go to school to learn thinking skills or things that were important 100 years ago (History, phillosophy, ect) are now looked down on and scoffed at.
It's just the way the world is these day. People don't want lofty knowledge. Brains have been rotted to the point where cheap entertainment is celebrated and renowned, while the great thinkers and communicators of our day have been relegated to serving coffee and writing blogs to communicate their thoughts.
