My relationship with my parents isn't the best but it isn't the worst. I already had an anxiety attack yesterday about Christmas in general. I'm glad it's almost here, because then it can be over. I feel I'm pretty much a grinch this year. :/

This year has been quite unpleasant for most people. It is quite enough to make anyone a grinch.
My brother used to be pretty snarky to me and pick on me a bunch when I was young. That is because he is eight years older than me. It used to make me rather tense, but I think I am getting better at not being so defensive automatically. _________________ My Exchange Thread - Buying Some Old Rares

Every time I said that it didn't feel like Christmas this year, everyone agreed with me. This year has been horrible, and I can only hope that it won't be like this next year. But honestly, there's so much crap going on, I don't see it changing just because it's a new year. I feel like there's so much hurt that's happened on so many different levels, it's going to take a long time before any real healing happens.
My younger sister and I are 4.5 years apart. While living together in my parent's house, we never really got along until I was in college and she was in high school. Now that we've both been adults for awhile now, and not living under the same roof, we get along much better. I'm glad that we get along better now.

Being with family can be difficult. *sighs* But I don't have to dread being with my family right now. I'm sorry that things are tense for the two of you. _________________ Rayven, I look at your avatar and think "Queen Sparklebutt!"-Tam

I Thought my brother was rescheduling when we would meet up since he mentioned that there would be some inches of snow Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. But this morning while I was having a sleep in, he called and asked if I was coming over. So I got dressed, had a small breakfast, wrapped my gifts, got the snow off of the car and drive, and tried to figure out directions there. However, my brother called and said that it would be too late when I got there and he worried about me driving. It was already noon and there were still flurries going. Sigh. Now he wants to drop by my place on Sunday and the house is a disaster. Double sigh. _________________ My Exchange Thread - Buying Some Old Rares

Rayven - The tension is more so between my parents and I. We don't agree about anything anymore.
Angel - That sounds frustrating O.O I've never driven in the snow before, and I don't really want to.

Well, I did a bunch of cleaning over the weekend, and things look much better -- at least to me. My brother still saw more stuff that should be done, though. Ugh. At least he was casual about mentioning them rather than mean.
He gave me some nice things, too. A set of popcorn with cheese, caramel, and etc. A soft fluffy pullover in dark blue. A lunch bag tote with an extra wide bottom. A two pack of those fashion neck scarf masks. Plus an assortment of chocolate.
Driving in the snow is horrid. If it is really snowing hard it makes visibility low. If there is a whole pile on the road, you may get just plain stuck. Worst of all is when the roads are slippery. You can go skidding into something very easily unless you drive very carefully and at a slower pace.
I used to have a Dodge Omni as my first car years ago. It went so well in the snow. My Stratus that I got after that, and the Mazda II that I have now are nowhere as good in the snow. In fact I have skidded into a snowplow I was following to work a couple of winters ago. He was turning around in the middle of the street and I did not realize it until too late. Ugh! What a mess! _________________ My Exchange Thread - Buying Some Old Rares

Riley-I understand. You should try telling them what my brother says to ours, "I'll do what I want." And then he does. It's actually pretty effective. They're so used to it they don't even fuss at him like they would me even though they know that I'm the same way. *shakes head* I do at least listen to them though but my brother won't.
Angel-I'm glad it went well with your brother and that you got some nice stuff. I remember Omnis. My paternal grandma had one and she let me drive hers out on the farm when I was about 12 or so.
I don't mind snow so much but ice is horrible! _________________ Rayven, I look at your avatar and think "Queen Sparklebutt!"-Tam

Ice is horrid for driving! No doubt about it.
I used to not mind driving in the snow when I had my omni.
I find it funny that your grandma used to let you drive when you were so young. But at least if you were on a farm you were ell away from any traffic that might cause a problem. _________________ My Exchange Thread - Buying Some Old Rares

I never drove one in the snow. I'm glad Grandma didn't let me try that.
Yeah. I didn't know it at the time, but my dad says she was a terrible driver. That's probably why she didn't mind when I hit a ditch too hard. O.O She just told me to keep going. _________________ Rayven, I look at your avatar and think "Queen Sparklebutt!"-Tam

Just keep going?? Oh my goodness! The suspension and alignment on that car must have been trashed by the end.
I do remember one time my Dad getting stuck trying to get into my Omni one time. I am at least a foot shorter than he was, so I pull the driver's seat up real close to the wheel. He tried getting in without moving the seat one time and found himself stuck half in and half out. He had to sit down on the driveway beside the car to pull his legs out. _________________ My Exchange Thread - Buying Some Old Rares

Rayven - Oh, my parents know I'm going to do what I want, and that they are not in charge of my moral compass. It doesn't stop them from making snide remarks from time to time, but they're not as bad as they were when I still lived with them.
I was driving on the freeway one night, and the car in front of me suddenly swerved out of our lane. There was a dead buck in the road, and I didn't have time or the space to move over as well, so I had to drive right over it. Thankfully, it did not tear up the bottom of that little car. And also thankfully I maintained control of the car. O.o That was rather scary.

Angel-Yeah, she was...simple minded. Probably. It wound up basically sitting until it rotted and was eventually hauled off I guess.
That's funny. Your poor dad. Even though my dad and I are the same height, I pull the seat up closer than he does and he always complains that he hits his knees.
Riley-You'd think parents would eventually learn to save their breath. I did with my son. Then again, we don't talk at all now. :/
That is scary! I hate it when stuff like that happens. I've never had to drive over a deer though. _________________ Rayven, I look at your avatar and think "Queen Sparklebutt!"-Tam

I hope I never hit a deer. I would feel awful. I should get one of those "I brake for animals" bumper stickers to warn people that I slam on the brakes for them. I've only hit a few animals, the one that bothered me the most was a dog but luckily it lived, and I feel terrible every time. Sometimes I cry over road kill I didn't even hit. I saw a whole family of skunks hit once, it was heartbreaking. I think there were four or five of them. _________________ Rayven, I look at your avatar and think "Queen Sparklebutt!"-Tam
