I say "primarily for women" because women can sort of crossdress.
Women wearing a male jacket? Suit? Shoes? Totally acceptable.
Let's see a brave man go out for groceries in a dress and high heels. In Israel.
I'm giving him, very generously I might add, 2 hours until death by stoning occurs.
Let's move to the question.
For this question, you now have a dude living with you. Roommate, SO, boyfriend, some other reason I can't think of.
I know women have "regular" dresses, dresses they wear all the time for whatever occasion. Unknown quantity. Same with shoes.
And then there's like 5 dresses that are special, fancy, worn for special events - clubs, weddings, things like that. Maybe 3 pairs of shoes in that department. Definitely high heels.
One day you come back home and see the dude wearing one of your fancy dresses and shoes...
Dude goes "wait, I can explain!"
What do you expect the explanation to be? _________________

...uhhhh... I'm not sure what kind of explanation I would expect from that situation, actually...
... but I'm also not a woman who usually wears dresses or skirts. I'd probably tell him to keep whatever he was wearing, thinking he'd get more use of it than I would

I'd be really impressed if he could fit into my clothes. _________________ MaraciaNiAsa

I'd probably have smacked him around (verbally or physically... yay autistic possessiveness) for touching my best things without asking before he could say anything. Though he wouldn't have found any heels in my closet. _________________ I am Tam. Tam I am, I like green eggs but I don't like ham.

I'd mostly marvel at the fact that he could fit into my clothes, but I don't have nearly the amount of dresses or shoes as you're imagining.
But if someone close to me, especially a SO, I'd be confused as to why they didn't feel comfortable to tell me about wanting to try on dresses, high heels or such.

I would expect that his explanation would either be that he enjoys wearing women's clothing or that he was curious to find out if he enjoys wearing women's clothing. If he was my SO I wouldn't care about him getting into my clothing. If he was just a roommate I would expect an explanation and an apology for getting into my things without asking but other than that part I wouldn't care about him trying on my clothes. In a hypothetical situation. In reality I don't have fancy clothing that would be worth trying on and I'm pretty sure sweats or jeans or pjs wouldn't be worth trying on since they are pretty much the same as men's. _________________
