Adam ran his hand over his hair and looked at Fiona.
"That is going to be a hard decision, since I barely know anyone here. I know you have my best interest in mind and I'm grateful. I will met him and just take it from there that is all I can do for now" Adam said.

Fiona nodded, "I will set it up for tomorrow. Adam, think on this hard, we need you to be the very best you can be and Benedict is the very best."
Gerard nodded, "He is, I have learned everything from him." he added.
Fiona smiled and touched Adam's face, "I know you will do what is right." she said softly.

Adam smiled.
"I will try and do my best and I want to be the very best I really do. I will talk with Gerard but the decision will be mine." Adam said then looked at Gerard when he spoke.
"You learnt from him? I know I have not seen you with a sword but I'm still coming to grips with the tree episode and you're speed and now there is someone out there who is even better. Damn Gerard promise me you see me staring with my mouth open jab me in the ribs will you so I don't make a fool of my self." Adam said with a grin.

Gerard roared with laughter, "Deal. Hell, I am good with a sword, I can hold my own, but my sister, Fiona, without blinking could make me cluck like a chicken if she wished. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. Mine is, I trust too much and see the best in people. Probably why I have been married a dozen times," he added with a laugh. "Well if you do not want to sleep, lets get some wood chopped. Build up your strength." he added and some floating orbs bobbed in front of Gerard and he gestured for them to illuminate the woods.

Adam nodded his head.
"Mine is I have to learn to trust more" Adam said and got to his feet and once more gasped at seeing the orbs.
"Just when I think I will be okay with things I see, you surprise me again. Okay lets go and chop some wood" Adam said.

Gerard stopped Adam and shook his head, "Do not trust, not here in Amber. Trust no one." he said and sighed. "Not even me Adam." he added and trudged off up to the tree line after grabbing an axe from the shed at the side of the cabin.

Adam stared at Gerard as he grabbed the axe and walked ahead.
Adam was really starting to like Gerard and now he was told not to trust anyone.
Adam followed Gerard to the trees and for a few moments Adam looked at Gerard then took the axe.
"You want me to chop down a few trees?" Adam asked.

Gerard looked at the huge tree he had uprooted and thrown, "Well no point in wasting this one, lets get stuck into it," he said and swing the axe and with a mighty smash, he took out a chunk of the tree. "When I told you that earlier Adam, I really hope you do not tell anyone, especially Fiona and Caine what I said," he added and swung again.

Adam walked to the other end of the tree and began removing the the branches, hearing Gerard's comment Adam looked over at Gerard.
"I will say nothing, you gave me some advice and I will take it on board and that is between you and myself." Adam said and swung the axe again taking off another branch.

The pair worked in silence for about another hour before Gerard spoke again, "So tell me about your life on Shadow Earth." he said and slammed the axe into the tree trunk.

Adam looked over at Gerard and nodded his head slightly.
"I came from a middle class family, and now know why I was the black sheep of the family. My life at home was good,the same could not be said about my social life. I was a loner I had a few friends but no-one I would call my best mate. But my life was not to bad I was happy." Adam said and went back to cutting up the tree in front of him.

Gerard slammed the axe into the tree and growled, "See, this is what I mean. Caine and Fiona have their own agenda with you and are still making you outcasts. Tell me now you want to continue. If you do not, then I will take you back." he said, the outburst very un-Gerard-like.

Adam stopped cutting and faced Gerard.
"I don't want to go back Gerard, I have had a taste of this life and I like it. Here to a certain point I will be accepted for who I am. The other three I like them and they seem to like me Gerard. Thanks for the offer but I want to stay" Adam said and once more turned and swung his axe again.

Gerard nodded and kept chopping. They kept on going into the early morning before he got a trump call. He cam out of the call and looked to Adam, "Well it looks like you are going to be walking Amber's pattern after all." he said with a smile. "Are you rested enough or do you want to have a spell?" he asked. "It feels like walking through quicksand and into a hurricane at the same time."

"Maybe I should have a rest if its going to be that hard. I mean I feel great but it might be wise to rest up a little." Adam said
